This is my favorite and the only one that I've kept. Probably like it so much because I made the external lock parts, hardware, triggers and even the wood screws.

Either my .40 percussion or my .32 flint. I built both last winter. Not finding pictures of the .40 right now. This .32 is is the best shooting small bore I have ever shot.

My favorite is a .62 caliber left hand full stock Hawken flintlock custom made for me in 1983 by my late friend Art Knolty. It's the top rifle in this picture:

Probably by 1858 Navy reproduction in stainless steel. Nothing fancy and not historically correct, but just plain fun to shoot with little recoil decent enough accuracy to whack gongs, and all kinds of different black powder and substitutes you can use with awesome gun smells.

Cheap and fun to shoot all day long.

Mine would probably have to be this Pedersoli 10 ga I got from my uncle. I used to have a navy arms 12 ga when I was a kid. It was about all I hunted with for a couple years. My Dad gave me his .36 cal Kentucky Rifle the other day too. That is a close second.

I have never owned a really expensive muzzle loader but they were all good fun. The one I wish I still had though was my Lyman Great Plains pistol.

I don't have any pictures to put up right now. But I had a couple of left hand flinters made up, which I really like. One is a 54 cal, Virginia rifle, I think it is called. It's long, and made by Matt Advance out of Mississippi. And the other is a little plainer, but with brass furniture, and is a .62 caliber smooth bore fowler made by the same people.

Sometime, we should all get together for a muzzleloader hunt. Mine is a modern inline type. Not every State allows it.

We have a wolf cva that a visiting outlaw-inlaw bought for a deer hunt and left with us to avoid the hassle of flying back home with it. We use it for a loaner and it has slain several deer. T/C cheapshots and two hodgdon 777 pellets snatches the soul out of them. My son has temporary custody and has mounted a compact 4x scope on it for this season.
Sounds like fun.

The .32 caplock half stock squirrel rifle my grandad built is my favorite. It was the first firearm I ever shot. He built a flinter as well which is with my cousin.

That said, I dream of a left hand .40 flinter with willowy swamped barrel. Also hankering for a 20ga left hand trade gun. Didn't get wise to smooth bores until Northstar West had already gone out of business.

I’ve got an original circa 1840-1850 western PA halfstock 36 cal cap lock longrifle that’s signed by A.B. Smith I shoot this one from time to time . Before I croak I wanna kill a couple squills . But the one I use the most now is a Remington 700 Ultimate ML 50 cal it went four shots four deer last season including the best buck last season . I shoot 64.5 grains of H4198 pushing a 250 grain savored Hornady rubber tipped bullet .

Gee, I'll have to list two favorites!

My favorite modern BP shooter is my Ruger Old Army (stainless):

And my favorite replica BP shooter is my Colt 1861 Navy 3rd-generation Signature Series:

My favorite muzzleloader is my Schoyen Ballard .38-55! But it's actually a breech seating muzzleloader! It loads a .38-55 case in the breech, and then uses a false muzzle and starter to muzzle load the bullet down against the case mouth.

Image

Have another done by Pope that's also a breech seating muzzleloader. This one is a .28 Pope Special Breech seating muzzleloader. With additional barrels in .22 WCF, and .32-40 Ballard.

Enfield .58 cal. Muskeetoon. This is the second one I've owned, bought it from one of the guys here. Thanks Bill!
It's a bit more accurate with a Minie than a round ball, but I have a mold for the RB and it's not that much different.

Mine is .54 also. One of the earliest ones. I had to install a new front sight. The rear sight couldn't be lowered enough to get on paper.
TC's first round barrel. Apparently they did not take into account the taper of the barrel.
