Steve,
Thanks for buying my stuff. You might check under that rear sight too. The current production guns are drilled and tapped for a scout scope rail. (don't know why. They haven't made the rail in years :? ) You will need some 6x48 plug screws.
Here lately I have been getting reports that the peep sight base is a little loose in the old safety hole. That has happened in the past, too.
This fix seems to work,

It’s almost impossible to manufacture the sight bases to fit them all because Rossi has been making these 92's with the safety on the bolt now for 20 years and aren’t known for their fine fit and finish. So, the holes tend to vary just slightly from gun to gun, year to year. The diameter of the big hole will vary and the position of the pin hole will too.
When I run on to one that’s loose like that what I do is take the base piece back out, then turn it at least 90 degree, put it back in and scratch a mark in it though the pin hole there on the side. (It helps if you use a sharpie on it so the mark shows up better). Then I just file a slightly shallower notch where the mark is so the pin fits tighter. Then when you put the pin back in it helps tighten it all up. Hope this helps.

Your eyes aren't that bad if you can still use a .040 aperture .....that size gives me spider webs and low light

I feel your pain. My old eyes aren't doing so good anymore. Seems like they are different every day.
What makes it worse is they used to be excellent. I still don't have glasses, but need them.

COSteve wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2020 5:23 pm Thanks for the info Nate. My Rossi carbine is a late 2008 manufacture I got NIB in early 2009 and I looked under the rear sight and don't think mine is d&t. FWIW, I got your Slick Up kit and DvD as well as the safety plug which was loose so I actually did the same thing to tighten it up. I fact, I did it to my 24" rifle as well and after a neighbor shot it, he had to have one so after he got it I slicked up his rifle too. (Yes, the plug needed it too.)

BTW, I talked to you on the phone way back in early 2013 as I was considering a Uberi '73 rifle. You mentioned restricting my loads to standard press (14,000 max) as the toggle link action wasn't that strong. After we talked, I ended up buying the NIB Uberti '73 rifle and a couple months later a NIB '66 Yellowboy carbine, both in .45 Colt and yes, I keep my handloads to under 14,000psi.

After I ordered the sight, I submitted a review on your Slick up Kit with DvD as I signed up to make the order today and that allows me to provide a review. Of course I gave it a 5 star rating and included a comment that 11 years and 6K rds later both my Rossis are still running slick as snot in large part to your kit and tips. First quality parts, great DvD.

You were very helpful and shared your knowledge freely and are a true asset not only to this forum but to the entire shooting industry as well.
Thanks again steve,
I guess I should reference the 73 comment. I do know the modern 73's will take much more pressure than the old ones. Only makes sense with the advancements in metallurgy. However, the weak part is the mechanics or design in that it has several hinge point in the links and they all bear the load and with high round count they do loosen up.
Years ago I had set one up one that was used by a prolific CAS shooter. This guy shot every weekend it seems. He estimated he had run 40 to 50 thousand rounds of CAS 38's through it. Every hinge point in that action was loose to a point that the head space had grown to excess. No catastrophic failure but it was just worn out.

Oh BTW I like the "“Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.” - Confucius" Quote. There's a Cajun version too. "where life takes you is were you at" :)

I've used Steve's rear sighst and mag tube followesr -- and bought the DVD. It's all good.
There is an elderly shooter who visits out county range with two Rossis he slicked up following Steve's instructions, one in .45 Colt and one rebarrelled to .44 Special. They simply run like butter. 8)

Don’t mean to hi jack this thread but another comment on Steves gunz.! several years ago I called him with an issue on my 1980’s Puma in 38/357. I explained what the issue was and he told me what I needed to do, AND WHAT PARTS TO REUSE so I wouldn’t have to buy new ones. A) he was 100 percent correct on what the problem was.
B) I still give him kudos and much respect for NOT telling me I had to order his entire kit because his is the bestest, only ones that work, blah blah blah. A man of integrity in my book. Thank you Sir. BTW I had that 16 inch threaded and with a suppressor 3.5 grains of Unique and a 200 grain RCBS cast bullet it is almost silent and an inch at 30 yards. Hehe😎
