Swagging Setup

Post by 6pt-sika »

The Barnes/Armbrust 8 gauge swagging setup . Pretty decent idea for using the old Herter’s dinosaur press .

George L. Herter's Model Perfect. Order one out and try it! I have 2 of them bolted to my bench. And I'm still using my Herters powder measure.

Yeah the extra bit at the base of the industrial hulls . They all have a step in them so you supposedly can’t get the high octane industrial loads in old guns like the one I’m playing with .

Ok, I knew of the industrial applications the 8 had, never knew the hulls were different. Thank you for the clarification.

I got some hulls from a friend today to tide me over until the order from Precision appears . The friend that I got them from today took me in his gun vault sadly I felt I should refrain from taking pictures . He handed me several Parker guns to try for feel an A1 Special an AAHE an AHE a BHE and a trio of Parker 8 gauge guns . The 8’s were a 5 frame hammer gun and a pair of 6 frame hammerless with one of them being fluid steel . Also hefted his Grade 3 five frame 10 gauge . He had many many more but these are the ones that stuck out .

So after today’s trip I have fifty or so nice new Winchester hulls to stage tommorrow as well as about fifty once fired Remington hulls that also need to be swagged . I’ll do that at the shop Thursday and hopefully load some tommorrow or Friday .
