Expensive Brass

Post by Blaine »

8) 8) Tubby The Tuba Rides again....
I got this like new one for what it would have cost to recondition the one I got in 1974. That old one was really thrashed and trashed. Back in '74 it cost me over 3 E-5 paychecks.

Yep Blaine, those large calibers can be very expensive! Very nice! I see you load it with your own muzzle too.

That's a beauty. I know what you mean about reconditioning, it's almost not worth it anymore.

Lovely Blaine. Who made it? I save some old instruments but have only had rebuilt my 1911 Conn large bore cornet. It has all the slides to change it over to C. Been in our family since new.

Very Good! Those Sousa awards are not given away lightly. I'm sure he put in untold hours of study/practice.

Thanks Beaker and Blaine for your kind comments. I thought a "Tuba" post might be appropriate place to mention a Sousa award. My boy qualified for regional concert and symphonic bands six different years on four different instruments: alto, tenor, and bari saxophones and bass guitar. An honor student, he has been accepted to the UT system for the fall semester :D
