SWEET!

Post by M. M. Wright »

Like everyone else I'm getting some projects done that have been hanging fire for years. Decided to shoot my 2nd gen 1862 police model. Didn't think I had any fffg but turned up a flask half full that had the proper 20 grain measure on it. .375 round balls and some no. 10 caps. 9s would be better but 10s is what I've got so I crimped them a little. The old Lyman 45 sizer leaks a little so there is a wad of SPG that I could top off each chamber with a finger dab. I had forgotten how much I love shootin' cap & ball.

I set up this target at 10 paces and using my best Weaver stance, aimed at the bottom of the square. Same hold throughout.

Being lazy I just turned the target over for the second cylinder.

That top hole is 2 balls. In my opinion this is the most beautiful revolver anyone ever built.

Nice! Looks like a lot more fun than I had filling scripts today.

Someday I gotta get, or at least shoot, one of those open-tops. Sure enough my 1858 Navy replica is fun...!

The 1862 Police ranks up at the top dozen of fun guns to shoot......handy little bugger comparable to a Ruger Single Six in size....---6. Mine stays loaded and every few months I blow it out.---6

I miss my Cap n Ball shooters, I'm still looking for a smooth bore musket I can afford. I'm glad you found the makings to have a fun day, I still have my possibles bag just in case.... :D
