My dad's place was broken into back in December while they were in FL. The local PD, who were great by the way, asked me to get the rest of the stuff out of the house because it would now be a target. Not an easy undertaking with 300 Endfields , Springfields and Mosins. Yesterday he said he was missing one of his Broomhandles and I told him I didn't think he was responsible enough to have this one back. He laughed so hard he almost dropped his phone.
This morning he called and told me to keep it for all the work we did cleaning and boarding the place up ! I was speechless!!
Finn marked Mauser C-96 In about 90% condition.
The holster is a Boar war style reproduction
I'll be wearing it around the house the rest of the day!

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Anytime! I don't think he's ever fired it.
He bought it at the Ohio Gun Collectors show probably 20 years ago along with a British RAF 1911 in .455
If I remember right, he paid about $1500 for the pair.
I need to find a shoulder stock for it.

Jason, I had a beater C96 years ago. The story was that they came in from China on a large ring through the trigger guards, welded shut. There might be 50 on one ring. They were auctioned that way. Mine was in 7.63, and the bore was shot, so I sent it to Redman to be rebored to 9mm. I managed to shoot it, but it was very, very tired and so many small, delicate parts.
Yours is beautiful!

Thanks Bill!
I've had a couple of the Chinese imports over the years and one Russian Bolo that was in really good shape but not much finish left.
This one is in excellent condition with a great bore and all matching numbers. I'm going to have to dig out my striper clips and dies to get it up and running.
Plenty of time off right now so it will give me something to do.

I'm sure he's glad to pass it on to someone who will APPRECIATE it, instead of just looking at is as a garage-sale item or something to stick under their truck seat....
Doctors for Sensible Gun Laws "first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.
I could never do that.
He did lose four 1911s, a British proofed Lugar and a Tokarev. The Tokarev is the only one that's been recovered. The bone head went on FB looking for ammo and they busted him. The detective is trying to get him to turn on his buddies,
My dad got paid very well from his ins. co. for the others, but I really hope they don't end up in any crimes. The PD thinks they will get passed around a bit and end up with a collector eventually. Makes sense.
