Colt Burgess Still Getting Out For A Kill Once In Awhile

Post by Shrapnel »

I got this Colt Burgess last May in Denver and haven't shot anything with it until yesterday. I took it gopher hunting and laid a few in their graves...

Very nice! I owned it's bigger cousin, twice removed.

I'm with GK. I bet the number actively used in hunting is measured in two-digits, at most.

Very, very cool! 8) 8) 8)

Now I realize that ground squirrels (no matter what you call 'em) are tough little critters....but isn't that kinda overkill?

(Not that I care; the only good ground squirrel is a dead one. Here in the SOUTHwest, their fleas can/do carry bubonic plague, among other bacterial treats!).

That old Burgess was made to kill bad stuff--Bang away!

you always have the best stuff and do fun things with it !!!

didn't know those critters were out already. was headed to Bozeman at spring break, and had to cancel and go into hiding out here at the lake, avoiding the bug.

hopefully, will get down there this summer. finally, I am going to be only working 2 weeks each month. took me a while ….I will be 73 this year !

maybe I will bring my 1878 burgess 45/70 down and shoot something with it !

Poor little guy.....spent 6 months freezing his little tail off burrowed in the ground.....gets his first day of sunshine and warmth, all happy, pops his head out...baaaaaam....then gets his corpse displayed for the world to see.... and the vultures to eat....

It is original in original condition and does letter. These guns are rare and even more rare in this condition. The bore is great and the gun functions and shoots fine.

" Bring away. I have a bunch of cool old guns in those black powder chamberings and I shoot them all. Just let me know when..."

was coming down at spring break, but then the virus happened. i am in 'isolation' working from our place on a lake well outside of anchorage, should be okay

the good news for me is that starting in a month or two, i am finally going to only work two weeks each month.....about time since i am 72 1/2 years old, and been working full time all my life...which i enjoy. however, starting soon we will be down at our place in Bozeman about half the time all year round.

i have quite a few interesting old guns, some nice ones, but my collection doesn't remotely rival yours. mine is more of an accumulation. will be shuttling more of them down there for play time.

I will definitely let you know, looking forward to it !
