we ALL will be/are affected in some way or another by this pandemic. help will be available for those hit hardest. we need to pull together to get thru this with minimum damage. Hopefully, these measures are only temporary.

I posted that on the keyboard forum and got this reply:

"A musician is someone who drives a $500 car with a $5000 instrument just to play a $50 gig."

Ouch............

I guess Seattle has music, but I couldn't name any musician from there. Texas has music. Mostly Country, Western, and Western Swing. At least, as far as I know.

from seattle and thereabouts there is an obnoxious din from the homeless, unbathed spawn of pot smoking hippies called grunge that will step on your last nerve......

then there is something called post-grunge from the younger siblings of the above that is not quite so hard on the ears......

then there is post-post-grunge which is unplugged, acoustic music that is not bad at all......these vocalists mostly sound like mac powell of third day .

I am often confused with fellows of the so called "grunge culture" by the way I dress in cooler weather.....plaid wools and flannels, untamable hair and beard. Apparently I somehow look northern cali or oregonian or washingtonian but I have no tattoos or piercings or purposely inflicted burn or acid scars and I could care less who curt cobain or amy winehouse was.....

A world-class symphony, and more.....It's just not about crappy six piece groups that haven't learned to tune a guitar.... 8) There is more good music in the PNW than you could ever imagine.

A world class symphony sounds good to me. I have absolutely zero musical talent, but I can appreciate when others have it. To me, it isn't only about the type of music, but how well it is played. Some tone deaf person strumming a guitar and missing every note is not music. In fact, I do that. Whereas, someone who has the ability to hit the right note at the proper time may get me to listen. Screaming and smashing things is not music. I may not like the same music as everyone else, but noises that are ones I can make are not music.

does the symphony have more than 10 peeps? I get it that Blaine appreciates excellence in music. It's a great gift.

anyway, I can't sit in large crowds any more, and I cannot tell the difference between a symphony in an auditorium, and one on the car radio.... tone deaf. and no road noise in the auditorium for "fill". :)

I like some classical music and if I have the radio on it's often on the seattle classic fm station... when the fat lady isn't singing... unless there is a baseball game on the airwaves

I actually like elevator music, that's how shot my hearing is. you know, a beat, a melody, a harmony, and no screaming. what's not to like?

With this slight thread drift, now is as good a time as any for a banjo joke.

What is the difference between a banjo and a two-stoke engine ?

One is obnoxious noise pollution and the other is a useful power source.....

I feel that way about some of the 'abstract' art....If I could paint it after a few ounces of bourbon, I don't consider it "art", even if it might be interesting to look at for a minute.
