Gunny, take your prize and LIKE IT! Don't try to pawn that stuff on anyone else!

I felt like I won tonite... I'm havin' company tomorrow and started cleaning up... WOOHOO! When I was reloading the last couple of days I took inventory of my primers... 3,000 LPs... oh no... and everyone's grumblin' they can't find any! Well... hidden away behind some gun cases was a case of WLPs!!! I recall that I was at my favorite pusher's early this year and saw that they had 10 cases... with no one's name on them... (maybe I should've bought 2)!!! :P :P :P

WOW! Electricity to the barn and now I have hot water in the house! Well, over to the bedroom side, the other one for the kitchen and laundry worked fine. Got home two weeks ago and didn't have any hot water. Called Sears service and was told they didn't have any technicians due to covid. Said they'd give me an allowance to buy a new water heater... WTF have I been paying for all this time? Anyway, the son put his meters to the elements and they didn't draw any current. Go figure there was no hot water!

Yep water heaters are a 'consumable ' most folks don't think about the elements until it's too late. Good news is they are fairly cheap to replace, doesn't make life any easier though. I knew a guy that had such bad water he kept a backup water heater on hand, swapped them every 8-10 months.

Shot my slug gun yesterday after hunting, from about 100 yds I put 2 slugs about 1" high of the POA , almost touching each other. Wasn't going to waste anymore slugs.

Wow! That's crazy!
I hate water heaters. I don't have one. I have hot water baseboard and my water runs off the boiler. Nobody gets a cold shower. I put a new furnace in a few years ago and did put in an insulated plastic holding tank.

Well, another season is over. Didn't go as I'd hoped, but that's why they call it hunting I guess.
What did go well is I got to hunt with my dad and all three sons. Older I get, the more important that gets.

Back to work tonight. I have to give them word on whether I'm going to days, 2nd shift or weekends. They are doing away with 3rd shift, laying off a bunch of people, and retiring some. I'm still too young.....sucks.
I'll actually make out even better if they close. That's my fervent hope. Place is circling the drain. :D

Well water will destroy a water heater...that's why smart people put in filters....mine is around 12 years old....

We had hot water baseboard and water heated by oil...I was sooooo glad when I got rid of that....no more high/fluctuating oil prices, no more maintenance, no more leaks, no nothing.....everything electric......clean with about zero maintenance. The high seer number heat pumps today will heat and cool your house for pennies.....

Well Jay...that's how it is......when you get a kill the hunt/fun is over.....mmmmmmmm....as we all know, day work is the best but you have to perform as that's when the bosses are around.....weekends...nooooooo.......second shift destroys your entire day. I was fortunate to work days and the last 20 years was in a satellite warehouse with one or two other guys...no bosses...

Nice and sunny today...60.....very nice....big storm coming tomorrow......

Heat pumps are effective depending on where you live. Here, they will not heat your house. They help, in addition to something else.

I have worked at this place for 33 years. The only reason I've lasted that long is I have NEVER worked days. First, the traveling is a nightmare on days. Second, and most importantly, I would have to deal with people I can't stand. It wouldn't go well. Third, all this is for 10% less money. That's a LOT of money.
I worked second for the first 11 years. I didn't mind it, but it isn't the best for a family. Now it doesn't matter so much with the kids gone.
I worked the weekend shift for 10.5 years. It was the best thing at the time. There was ALWAYS an adult home. All three of our sons have done well, never got into any trouble, and we have a close family. I think it contributed.
It saved a ton on travel and vehicles. I had a LOT of time off too.
I really just want out now.

I have dealt with too many bosses who have actually said that they will only give you time off to see a Doctor when they say that you need it. The ADA is useless. They do not help. Most dangerous work I have ever done is Walgreens Pharmacy. The U.S. Army Infantry is a very distant second.

THANKS! DAD! I had a Savage 12 slug gun today. The rest of the week I will be looking for a doe with the 1895 Winchester in 30-40 Krag. He is real wide. I am dealing with a very sore set of ribs as I slipped getting out of the shower Friday and slammed into the tub side. I was convinced I wasn’t gonna see anything. OOPS I was wrong.

I took my retirement before I turned 20. Left home @ 18, spent a semester in college and the BUGGED OUT! Hitch-hiked to New Orleans for Mardi-Gras. Gravitated my way up to Omaha and met a girl... spent the summer and fall... Then moseyed back to New Orleans and ultimately down to Fort Lauderdale. Met a girl... then followed her to NYC... dumped girl and went back home as I knew I wasn't going to avoid the draft. Went into the Navy and saw much of the Pacific. A little bit of war, much of myself. I've spend the intervening 50 years working. For the Gov., for companies, and for myself.

I owe... I owe, so off to work I go. We all need to put up with stuff we don't like. Do things we don't enjoy. So that for a few seconds at the end of our life, we can look back and know that we overcame it all! If we're proud of our kids, that's like icing on the cake.

So quit yer sniveling and pull your big boy pants up and get to it!

I spent 10 years at the lumberyard, 7 of which were just about me myself & I- driving the truck, building loads, inventory, ordering, waiting on customers, machine maintenance and everything else involved. What did I get out of it? Stress - debilitating stress at the end. A decade I'd like back!

Hey Tom nice buck! What slug are you shooting? We open next Monday for shotgun, muzzle loader opens today. I bought my bear tag, the farm I hunt is crawling with bears.

Six are you going to 'file it in' ? Or ya just gonna wing it?

Parker worked her kibble off yesterday! Found/flushed 9 birds, 6 were shot and retrieved. I'm starting to think the guys that hunt with me miss on purpose!

Gotcha, I never tried those rounds my Savage 220, Remington 3" accutip shoot too darn good!!

2.7" of rain so far, town is flooded! Water up over the curbs! (Sure wish we could attach video clips). All streams are over the banks, roads flooded, trees down- fun fun fun! Knock wood the power is still on! Great, two spots the roof is leaking! Some water in the basement too... I miss the sagebrush country at times like this!!

2.4 inches here.

"File it"?......first I have to give it a full week to harden like a rock.....I settled on a nice pleasing load....7.5 of Herco and a 200 grain SWC sized .454. It's an easy load for the antiques, one of which is the 1878 Colt D.A.

On another note, just got a phone call from someone who knows what's going on.......this election is far from over and as we speak there are tens of thousands of people. "standing by, awaiting orders". There's no F ing way are they gonna let JB become President.

And this is not demonstrations .......it's the real deal......be prepared ----6

Yes File it to be correct height for POA POI ?
I remember a buddy of mine got a muzzle loader and the front was like an inch tall. He couldn't get it on paper. 'What do I do?' Well we have to file it SLOWLY . He didn't wait for me and got rambunctious and took too much off. Had to get another and I filed it for him- 1 three shot group at a time !

Thank you Jay.....Works most of the time..........when the gun is a 45 Colt and the barrel is 2" everything changes......well, it might work if you could hold the gun very hard....as the old sight was .260 with 250 grainers I filed it .to 400. It's still not enough for 250's but should be on with 200's.....if I get time tomorrow I'll test out a few rounds.....----6 ...o....de hoody.

I got to recheck Gunny....it was 2.4 and we had a mess afterwards.

I watched the video and it's helpful, that's about it. The guy goes too fast and does not show the correct relations to parts. I put the selector in backwards...it will fit in, but afterwards it don't work....and it's one of those things where you need three hands. I got so frustrated with the trigger spring I just taped it in place while I dropped in the trigger.

It's one of those things where after you do it once, your an expert. That and you lose confidence in your abilities as you age. My doc told me that as you age you begin to lose your ability in dexterity and deep thinking.......id rather just shoot and masturbate.---6

Sorry bud. I hate stuff like that.
I have seen evidence of what your doc said. My dad grew up dirt poor and became a mechanical engineer. What that means is the guy could do anything. Anything.
The combination of necessity from his youth and his education was an effective combination. The last few years, however, I have seen a difference. He knows what to do when working on something, but has more trouble getting it done. Mostly, I let him do it, but if he struggles too bad I will help. Had to fix the park/neutral switch on his truck the other day.
Now it's my turn. The clock spring took a dump in my truck. Ain't looking forward to that. :D

Six ya just need a box full of Remington 3200 parts! If ya can put it back together ya can put anything together!

With my Dad , at 84 , he was still flying/working 40+ per week. Dads mind was SHARP, but he had difficulty getting in & out of the small planes but he was still flying and teaching student pilots. The family saying was as long as Dad had air under his a$% he was happy! Over 100,000 hours flight time and something like 3.5 million air miles in everything from Piper Cub to Boeing 767!

I finally sent an email to MEC, they sent me a PDF as to setting up the press for 3" 410s- now thats working great so I need more 3" hulls .

That's an impressive record Gunny! Props (pun intended) to your dad.

I have a couple MEC 600s. One in 12 and one in 16. Can't remember the last time I used either.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

Fun With The 10-22

Post by Sixgun »

Yea, I still got it! You mind slows down after around 30 and while you may not think it, it does. Going back to when I was 20-30, I could add multiple numbers up in my head, divisions, etc.......while I still can, I can't do it as fast.

I finished this thing up today and now I can put one together in 15 minutes.....much more complicated than a brainless AR trigger....there's several springs that have to be put in just perfect......the videos give you a good idea but you still have to have mechanical smarts to an average degree.....

I filled up a 25 round Ruger mag ...went out back and ripped off a half dozen in semi mode...hit the fun switch and emptied out the rest is 2 seconds...or less......filled the mag up 2 more times and ripped em off in the pond....you can see about 10 empties in the air at once.......

I don't see a need for it but then I don't see a need for more than 200 horsepower in any Jeep....or car......maybe a pick up......

That was another 'fun ' thing Dad did, stand in the checkout line, add each thing and have the tax figured before the clerk hit the total button! He did math like no one else!

I've not played with a binary, no idea how they work!

Wow! Your daddy was waaayyy above average. I have a general idea to $5 and to do better than that it takes work.

I'm gonna pop on a quality scope on this 10-22 and get a match grade barrel.....if they make them for a takedown........

Thinking of writing Franklin Armory a letter telling them I'll give them a blank check (up to several big ones) for a binary for the BAR....Now wouldn't dat be cool?

What are you waiting for? Send them an email, call, smoke signals- whatever it takes to see if they would make one! You are gonna need more magazines!

Hey Tom how are your symptoms? Ya feeling ok? Where's my buckshot?!
