When I was a Fire Lt. we went on a beating, there was so many gunshots we could not leave as we should. Cop car had a
bullets through the wind- shield and my Engine had 5 bullet holes form the top of the cad to ruining 3" hose due to gun fire.
To most FF and Cops the 4th sucks!
PS. my brother who passed last year, was born on the 4th in 1950.

After the 4th and New Years Eve we used to walk around the refinery picking up spent bullets the local idiots had fired at the process equipment.
Had a rookie one year announce that he intended to climb the tallest tower to watch the fireworks. No amount of warning from the older hands could change his mind. The guys finally called me and I had to tell him he’d be fired if he did.
