Definitely an excellent video. Well worth watching if you are going to be working on any Winchester lever action in my opinion. The whole anvil series of C&R arsenal is excellent and informative!

I enjoyed seeing his repair of the mag tube as it's a good fix if you're not planning on restoring a gun. But if it is going to be restored then extending the tube as he did is a waste of time and money for the customer. You can buy mag tubes from Randy Redman at Redman's Liners for a lot less than what man hours cost.
And I can't tell you how surprised I was to see a gunsmith who uses a vise and an adjustable wrench to remove a barrel! It might be fine if it comes off as easy as his did, but it will damage a receiver beyond repair if it's stuck tightly! Every gunsmith I know owns a barrel vise, and action wrench just to avoid harming a gun. I have custom cut blocks I've made for my action wrench, and barrel vise just to ensure they fit, and wont harm my guns.

That was good....I've done that more than a few times with (no rebarreling, just complete strip downs) 1886's..and 92's, 94's,95's and one thing for sure, there would not be enough video tape for me doing it. It's a weekend job....no matter how many times you do it, there are different issues that come up and it's time to get the books out. :D another thing on 86's..the later tubes were screwed in.

There's always a screw, part, or something that someone in the past changed, then you have to retap it, whatever. PITA.

I agree with Marlinman, I have replaced a few tubes....I just bought em, stripped em, then rust blued them.

I could never do it for money...I'd starve.....it takes me about four times as long as the time that real gunsmith does it in.

I prefer working on single action Colts and old model Rugers.....they are no brainers----6
