Another holster pattern

Post by Chuck 100 yd »

Remember the karma drawing for the 1911 holster a few weeks back?
It was a prototype that I made to prove up a pattern I have been working on.
Here is the same basic holster shortened to fit the Commander length 1911.
I like my Ruger SR 1911 CMD so much I bought a second one.

It proves that practice makes perfect........... Excellante' ! !

Didja make the holster for your 2nd Ruger 1911 Commander left-handed - so you could wear/carry both at the same time ?

I really like the SR1911 CMD too... and if I had the scratch I'd buy one & bob the lower to Officer's size...

But maybe someday Ruger will listen & build some that way.

Pete44ru ,
I have made a couple but only right hand so far.
Left is not an issue though. Just flip the pattern over.

I saw a movie once, that when the Sheriff disarmed the fellow, he had something like 15 handguns concealed on him. :o

One of our Brethren, who has not posted in a coon's age showed how many guns he could carry in just his Kilt... I'm sure it's in the archives somewhere.

Very Nice! I never could understand why the Military Tanker Holster had the retaining strap where it could engage the grip safety. I like your design, but I have always wondered if a holster like that could be useful with a little more leather to completely cover the trigger and then have a hammer fob similar to the one on the Hand of God Holster.

horsesoldier03 , Interesting idea you have. I think the deep cut at the trigger is mostly for looks and tradition as the trigger would not be used to pull the pistol from the holster. My finger wont even go in there. A hammer spur thong (loop) would not be appropriate on a 1911 with the Commander style hammer and the strap between the cocked (condition one) hammer and the firing pin is an extra measure of safety when carrying in condition one. For Wild Bunch (CAS game) the holsters I have seen have no retainer. I don`t (haven't) shot wild bunch so correct be if wrong.
I have made several of the H.O.G. holsters and think they are just about perfect for CAS.

The Dodge City style is also a favorite of mine. I made this one for a friends 1872 Colt.

It sounds like you do some leather too. Most people haven`t even heard of the H.O.G. Rig.
Have fun!!

I've been looking for a holster just like that for my 1911. Chuck is this something you would sell?

Ben, I am in the middle of painting my house right now but can do one for you maybe later in the summer. What length 1911 do you have? Drop me a PM and we can get together off the forum.
I have a couple already done and have been working on a third pattern that has a seam in the front and back leaving a track for the front sight.
