I would prefer a Schwimmwagen, even in replica form. It would have to have the steel tub, not the fiberglass one, though. Doesn't need to have the light machine gun on the passenger side, either. Just needs to be road legal.

When I was in high school a fellow in town had one. He regularly took it from LA harbor to Catalina. I always figured those things were only good for crossing rivers and small lakes.
