Poll - Does anyone here have only one ....

Post by J Miller »

I was sitting here mulling over the fact I think I have too many guns  .
Then I tried to remember the last time I had only one center fire rifle.
It's been so long I'd have to check my records to find out.

So just for fun, does anybody here have only one...........

I've got several times more than one.

One center fire semi-auto 9mm Hi-Point carbine.

When I had only one, that was what I had.

Come to think of it, even now "I" only have TWO centerfire rifles - my .357 Rossi and my M4gery. And for a while it was only the 92.

(of course, I also have the 9410 project of mine and the 9.3x72R Drilling... and an 1894 30-30 & SKS in the safe that belongs to a friend...)

I am rapidly heading toward having one centerfire. I am down to two bolt guns and four lever guns.

Well, I only have one pump gun, a Rem 760 in 300 Savage. It's the most awkward thing to use, but it's darn accurate and swings nice in the hands. It resides in the safe with about 2 dozen levers and a couple of bolt actions.
Well done is better than well said.

The last time I had only one centerfire rifle was 1973. It was a levergun.

That was my plan; a .22, a 12G shotgun, one centrefire rifle and a three gun safe. Only problem was I hit on a Winchester 94 and came here for info and got contaged....

Um, NO.

At first, I thought the question was only one type .

That is almost a yes: I have not enough Levers, and one personal autoloader (a second autoloader was bought for work & doesn't count as personal).

I ummm... I don't own any Over/Under shotguns! :D
(unless you count rifle barrel over shotgun, in which case I'm down to 2  )

I don't own any... match locks. Any wheel locks. Or any "caseless centerfires".)

One centerfire? I don't think I have one of anything. However, twenty years ago I didn't even own one firearm. I've been in a downward spiral ever since I picked-up my first copy of Guns & Ammo and The Shotgun News late in 1987.

I misread the question. I have one centerfire lever rifle in 45-75, an 1876. I have one centerfire semi, a Rock River, CAR-15, with quad rail, holo sight and entry light. I have a Gary Reader .44 mag RSBH, 5 1/2 SS pistol. I have a .22 Stevens favorite. I have an 1897 Marlin in .22. A custom built .54 cal flintlock, and a double barrel, 12 ga, British percussion shotgun from 1845 that I love to hunt small game with. I have a tricked out 12 ga tactical shotgun and I carry a .38 +P smith 5 shot with antler grips. I also have a Casull .22 mini pistol that is never far from me. Thats it. I think I need more!!!!

For a time I only had the Big Bore 356 Win. as a Center fire rifle...1992-2000, but then inherited an Australian Cadet and Swedish Mauser Carbine which took me up to three. Sorry Joe!

Same here, around 73 to 75 or so I had just one at a time, anyway. but later on around 78 or so, I usually had at least two, and for a few years I only kept a Remington 700 in 270 win and a Marlin 336 in 30/30. I would often aquire a third but usually ended up not liking it for some reason and trading it off for the next experiement. At least I got to own and try lots of rifles over the years, but found many lacking for one reason or another, and always kept the .270 and the 30/30, until I got a Browning BLR in .308 and it has been my go to gun ever since, but I still keep buying others to play around with. Some I keep, and some leave after a while.

Right now, I think I own two boltactions a 350 Remington Mag and a 25-06. One Browning B78 single shot in 45/70, and a bunch of leveractions, probably around 11 at least unless I have forgotten one. And I have owned many more that lost favor, either do to reliability issues, accuracy issues, or boredom, and the disire the trade for something else. Some I miss, and some I don't.

1983. The only center-fire rifle I owned was a Mini-14 that my new bride bought me for my birthday.

Still have that one.

Lessee... I only have one centerfire pump... but more than one centerfire of everything else. Does that count?

There is NO SUCH THING as "too many guns". Anyone who feels that way please feel free to send them to me (free, of course - I'm not made of money). I promise I'll never sell nor trade a one! :D

The only ones I don’t have any of (I’m pretty sure) in center fire are pumps and doubles. All the others .....levers, bolts, semi autos and singles are (many) more than one.
The pumps are .22s and shotguns.
The doubles are shotguns.

I've thought about that "too many gun" thing myself....

Dennis.

I haven't had just one of anything since I was 16. I've got too much stuff too. Was digging through my closet a couple weeks ago and found a rifle I couldn't remember where or when I got it. Been thinning things out for a while now and still have some work to do.

I've only got the one centerfire rifle; the model 64A in .30-30.

Other than that, I have one Rem 1100 light20, a TC Black Diamond black powder in .50cal, a Remington Nyla66 Apache .22 rimfire (chromed barrel,) a Ruger BH 6 1/2in in .357, a Ruger Bearcat in .22 (wife's).
And a bow.

That pretty much covers all the bases.

Unless I get into either duck hunting or trap, in which case I'd get a 12ga Rem 1100 and a over and under cheapie, respectively.

Actually going to go bowhunting on Sunday...

First time out this season, can't wait.

Jeremy - I know you also have a muzzle-loader from your previous posts, but can't recall if you have a rimfire. That would solve the rabbit tear-up problem! :D

I used to shoot my dad's 1903 Springfield rifle before 1976 when I dad bought me my dream Marlin 1894 44 magnum NIB ($134.95). A few months later I bought a Stevens 311 20 gauge SxS which use until 1980 when I needed dated money so sold that Stevens and wound up marrying my date in 1981. In 1982 my wife's dad gave me his Winchester model 70 30-06 so I guess 1982 was last year iof one centerfireness (new word!). Pretty good investment that woman turned out to be.
