How can I put crossbolt safety on an old Marlin 336?

Post by 3leggedturtle »

:D  Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year to y'all.. Todd
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

U get UR Makita and drill a hole all the way through the Receiver just in front of the Hammer. 1/4 in hole works best. Use a machine screw with course threads not fine threads, stick it through the hole with hammer cocked and install the nut. Finished.

Forget the drill, too slow. Use a cutting torch.

I was thinking of starting with a Mod 7 conical shape charge full of semtex.

KirkD may be right - wild and crazy guy that he is but you are eventually going to have to clean up the hole with a drill. :o Sometimes I wonder if Kirk may not have spent too much time at -35 to -45 degrees. Use the bicep my --- :D :D :D

By the way, I have a similar year that they left the safety off when you figure this out.

Use a 5/8" bolt with flat f& lock washers...wouldn't want it to come loose now...would you?

No...wait....drill a 3/8" hole & go down to your local hardware store & get a big ol' honkin'
Yale lock. It'll look like a saddle ring. Try not to lose the keys.

Just go find someone who uses a perforating gun and get one of the shaped charges from that. Anyone who knows that 2 joints make a stand, and that getting high doesn't involve substance abuse would know about a perforating gun. Or you could just not make all the old codgers around here have apoplexy in the first place.

I avoided this topic for as long as I could. I thought it was gonna be a bloodbath.

I was gonna say, give it to me and I'd send you one with a factory CB installed.

I think you oughta be on the naughty list just for thinking it, even if it was a joke.

I've also been avoiding this thread thinking that it would get ugly. Frankly though, I like the Master Lock idea. Merry Christmas.

God knows they need one - but - only you have actually seen this dire need and had the forward thinking stance to bringing it to the masses. i don't think I would trust anyone who doesn't think they need a safety without one. Hunted with two guys like that - can you say accidental discharge. Make that two - one each.
