The hornady slug punched right through, but the deer still managed to run about 90 yards before " giving up the ghost " he had came in under my treestand , double lunged him, I like the accuracy I get from the hornady slugs and I can ruin a deers day no problem at 200yds but in return what I loose is KNOCKDOWN POWER Ive probably shot 50 deer with foster slugs and I truly believe if I had been using a foster slug on this deer he would have been DRT, next week we get another 2 days of shotgun and I still have a doe tag left  I plan on breaking out my Kessler levermatic that I customized and in that I use plain ole winchester slugs, I will try to get some pictures posted of some of my slug gun set-ups, < I have 7 >

Truly believe what you will -- what you really learned was, there is no such thing as "KNOCKDOWN POWER". Congratulations on a very fine buck!

Nice deer, looking at the bases of those antlers an wily older one as well, congratulations.

Pisgah, not to get in a p-ssing match with you, but there is a huge difference in the way a 1 oz foster slug hits and the way a sst bullet hits,
what I learned is that for now on, my close range woods hunting will be done with the foster type slugs, as for the term KNOCKDOWN POWER, that might not be the correct term but most shooters probably relate to it,
would you rather be hit by a baseball at 100 mph or a balling ball at 100 mph?
with all that said thanks for the replies, and Im still working on pictures of the guns
