Roy E. Bjordahl 03/19/39 - 07/03/10 RIP

Post by arjunky »

My Father,
Left today at 2:12 this afternoon with me, sis, and mom at his side. Lung cancer to start, I'm guessing about 6 months before they found it, about Thanksgiving last year.
He had a seizure 1 month ago today. Found out he had a tumor in his brain. Had 14 treatments for that, suppose to have had 15, but on the 14th day he fell down and broke his hip.
Spent 4 days in the hospital and wanted to come Home.
Came home Thursday around 12:30, could still talk. Friday he would open his eyes and try to talk. Today he didn't open his eyes until the last 1/2 hour of his life. He passed with me holding one hand, sis holding the other, and Mom holding his head and arm. I'm Thankful I was there, I went back to work after, but not easy. Went to see Rafter-7 tonight to process some of the sorrow.

Thanks for your viewing.

Byron - I'm sorry for your loss. It's never easy, losing those closest to you. Lost my Mom last August. Like you, I was there, holding Mom's hand and Dad was with me. Toughest day of my life.

You're family has our most sincere condolences and we will pray that you all have the strength to get through this.

I was with my parents as they took their turns to make the journey home. While it is a privilege to do what little we do in meeting their needs as they leave this world, it is difficult, if not impossible, to say those goodbyes.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Byron,

You and your family have my deepest sympathies. Your Dad is at rest now, and I hope it gives you some comfort knowing that he went surrounded by the people he loved and who loved him. I can't think of a better way to go.

My Dad passed away in similar circumstances 8 years ago this month.

God Bless and keep you all.

Thanks everyone,
It's going pretty good considering.
Funeral is Wednesday, that will be the hardest hurdle left.
I'm pretty sure it hasn't fully sunken in yet.

You have my deepest condolences. It was good that you were able to be there at the end. May God give you comfort.

Byron,

I'm not sure it ever fully sinks in. I was up at the homeplace (nearest we have really) and I swear that when I looked over towards where Dad would sit at the dining table I saw him. I am ever so thankful I had such a good father.
Sincerely,
