MOVIES - Inglorious Bastards

Post by deerwhacker444 »

With being kooped up with the snow, I watched Tarentino's Inglorious Bastards. Have to give it thumbs up. Wasn't as much Nazi killing as I thought there would be, but the acting is superb, especially the German Colonel.!

Dang that Tarentino, there were a few times when I was on the edge of my seat, just waiting for somebody to burst into the room with machine guns blazing.

There was some implied sexual innuendo and lots of gore, but very little cursing for a Tarentino flick.

Story takes a big twist at the end and doesn't end how you think, but still a pretty good ending. I guess that's why I like his movies.

If you like westerns and well thought out dialogue, you'll probably like this.
"If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men
shall possess the highest seats in Government,
our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots
to prevent its ruin
." Samuel Adams

+1 Agreed on all accounts!! He said he was going to re-write history with this one and he did. Loved it !!

We also saw it while we were snow bound. Gotta admit that it was not my cup of tea. Just didn't seem to come together for me. But then again, it took me 10 years to where I liked Pulp Fiction. I'm jaded enough that I liked Dusk Til Dawn right outta the box. Maybe I was expecting a Dirty Dozen kinda thing with Inglorious Bastards? I'll be giving IB another look after a while to see if it will grow on me...

OT ---- but the opening dialogue between Pete Bottoms and Earl McGraw (the sheriff and the liquor store clerk) just rocks --- i have watched that part of the DVD maybe 50 times but only have seen the complete movie maybe 3 times

Watched Basteards last night. Can't say I enjoyed it but I didn't hate it either. Just didn't do much for me. You always wonder what was next but then it left me disappointed.

I liked it, even my wife liked it, and she doesn't like war movies! I though it was well though out and the plot was fabulous!

it left me completly unsatified in content and enjoyment. I don't think I would even rent it again. Just me I guess.

I read a review of the movie seen in a theatre, where the reviewer noted there was a scene where the inglorious bastards were torturing a German, and all the people in the theatre were laughing. Talk about creepy. I decided I was not interested in seeing a movie like that.

I really enjoyed it but i'm a big WWII movie buff and Quentin Tarentino fan.

The only thing I didn't care for was the unrealistic climax. Though it's too bad it didn't really happen that way.

Revealing the sadist in me guess, but I could think of some even worse fates for the colonel, so that part was a little disappointing. (As masterfully as that role was played, I'll bet he's going to have to watch the typcasting very carefully after this movie!) I was hoping for an even more brutal comeuppance for his heinous behavior. Otherwise it was a real "fantasy-ful" romp. Tarentinos supportive speech about the rap ***p at last night's Grammy's was very unfortunate, but he is a great movie maker.
