I am glad to see that the Democrat didn't win, but did America win with a Brown election? I think we have to see what Mr Brown does with his vote before we know if America won, the people have begun to realize just what was at stake and will the people regain control of Government?

Mrs. YK went to bed before the results were in last night, so I told her when we woke up this morning. Her comment was that ol' Teddy Kennedy must be rolling in his grave.

My response was that I hope that Satan himself was sticking his pitchfork in Kennedy's rear end and laughing at him. If there is any justice in this world or the next, Teddy's roasting in hell right now for what he did to Mary Jo K. He was certainly not punished here on earth for it, and never truly admitted his fault in the matter. Combine this with his pro-abortion votes, and he's hopefully very toasty right now...

A somewhat liberal acquaintance was attempting to scold me today for making similar comments about Tubby Kennedy, saying that one shouldn't speak ill of the dead. You're right, I said. If I ever get to Arlington I will search out his grave site.............just so I can pizz on it! That was the end of the conversation.

shdwlkr - you get Brown's vote instead of Coakely's - if you are looking for a political saviour you will be disappointed quite often. But this is a victory and the obvious - the dems don't have 60 now. I am looking for the situation to be improved.

I know, I know. Turning the other cheek has never been one of the strengths of my Christian faith. I know I need to work on it. Thinking about ol' Teddy though makes my blood boil!!!

Actually, this is a good question for another post - the concept of just punishment. Without it, mercy, forgiveness, justice are all meaningless.

YK

"Actually, this is a good question for another post - the concept of just punishment. Without it, mercy, forgiveness, justice are all meaningless."

We have a system, however flawed, which he went through. Just like OJ, and Michael Vick and ........ you name them. The concept of Mercy, forgiveness, justice and just punishment, all come and extend, in my opinion, from the true understanding of the Grace of God. If you believe in the immeasurable grace that God has bestowed on us, then you have an understanding that none of us really "deserve" to draw a breath, that we all share equally in the guilt of our sin, that no sin is greater than another because all sin is basically turning our back to the crucified Christ. A lie = murder. So what is our just punishment for rejecting Christ in our sin? Death?? probably. But through Grace and God's love for his Son and our Savior, we are spared this death, our lives bestowed with Mercy beyond measure, forgiveness born out of love, and the justice is measured by God in his love for us and His Son.

God is also Sovereign, omnipotent and just. He is the source of all power and life and seats all authority in all of creation. Justice, retribution are his alone. In the delegated power and authority he has given us, we set up institutions of justice and punishment. They are not perfect, just as we are not perfect. But God's justice and retribution are perfect and are administered in HIS time. I don't know Ted Kennedy's heart. I don't know if he was sorry or if he had asked God for forgiveness. I just don't know. But God knows and the only way I can go through life is to believe that The Sovereign God over ALL Creation will, in HIS time, and through HIS GRACE, bring perfect HIS plan. And in that day, I pray, that he shows his Mercy and forgiveness and Grace on me once more and shows me to my eternal place in worship of Him. Blessings

(I figured since I started the thread, I could hijack it too. )

Great words Mike, thank you. One of my favorite lines is from Unforgiven. The Scholfield Kid is upset after his first killing, and he says "Shot him on the (crapper)....guess he had it coming." Eastwood then takes a drink and says in his best voice "We've all got it comin Kid." Puts what Christ did on the cross in a good perspective.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

According to On the Issues, Brown's position on gun control is:

Rep. Brown indicated he supports the following principles concerning gun issues:
  • Allow citizens to carry concealed guns.
Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks on guns.
Require background checks on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows.
Require a license for gun possession.

This is a great development but not the end-all of this mess.

I am encouraged that our system does work and that even the people of Mass see the light when provided with the facts.

However, the thing that concerns me right now is time. Do we have enough time to head-off the crash... the disaster.

There are just too many things that are on the cusp of collapse for me to rest easy. All that will be required is one event to start the dominos falling.

The fools that we have in control now want a situation like FDR had - so that they can make even more "progress" than he made. And they still have the reigns, albeit without full control of the horses now.

Time to stave off a crash? Not a chance. That slow-motion train wreck already started in the Bush II regime. There is no stopping it, probably not even if Ron Paul had got himself elected president.
This is a great day for America!!!!
That might be exaggerating a tad. However there certainly is humor in the situation. Gallows humor I suppose. Senator Kerry told the D's, when the drive to fix blame somewhere was getting into action, that the D's should not try to form a circular firing squad.

I heard one report that Brown did so well because he ran strongly on stopping health care reform. People in Taxachussetts already have their own socialist health care system, and they like it, and they didn't want it overturned by the feds.
