They live in SW Washington and have a small 10 acre farm there. Just a few horses, some chickens, and an apple orchard, so not a farm that raises much beyond great kids!

My great nephew's deer hunt

Figured I'd follow up to my previous post about coyotes taking a young buck recently. Last week my nephew asked me to help him figure out his new inline CVA muzzleloader and get the scope and gun sighted in. We got it quickly on paper with 250 gr. sabots and 100 gr. Pyrodex pellets. So he was ready ...

I told my nephew he should have taken some video of what he saw when they came upon the coyotes tearing that young deer apart, just so we could show those who think hunters are inhumane. They have no idea how inhumane predators are by comparison.

We live in the city, and houses are close together on 50' x 100' lots. In recent years we see more and more coyotes hunting in packs around here. They used to be singles and occasional mating couples, but now they run in packs of 4-6 often like wolves have done forever. Those are great looking, high quality 1911 style handguns! And nice to have both barrel lengths also.
All mine are full length barrels, which I love, but not the best size for a carry gun all year around. I find myself going to a compact 9mm in the hot weather as a T shirt covers them easier.

I'm still not too concerned since buffalo only drop one calf, or on rare occasion two per year. Whereas most rodents drop large litters, multiple times a year. I doubt even a huge number of hunters like there were in the buffalo days would put much of a dent towards extinction of rodents.

Personally I don't think the velocity gained by a longer barrel is as beneficial as the sighting radius gained by the extra length! Having an extra 4"-8" of extra barrel length with iron sights is a huge factor in more accurate shooting.
