I pull a fishing boat, so towing a camper is not an option. Some choose to run a camper and a boat in tandem, but that's a bit long.
I also have two canvas wall tents....a 12x14 and a 10x12. Great tents, but a lot of gear to haul, unpack, re-pack, etc., for trips.

Re: Truck Campers
My wife and I drove over north of the Twin Cities and visited a Lance RV dealer. Looked through several different Lance truck campers. Something to think about. We're also studying Northern-Lite truck campers as well.

Truck Campers
My wife and I are in both retired ( in theory anyway ) and are in the early stages of transitioning out of a grass-fed beef enterprise on our farm. We're studying truck campers for our farm truck, which is a 2003 Ford F350. We're looking to adventure more around the Upper Midwest ( Northern MN, Nort...

Re: Got busted carrying concealed
I also carry concealed. Do any/many of you who do carry an extra magazine, strip or speed loader ? There's a spare magazine carrier called a "snag mag" that looks like a pocket carry knife with the clip outside your weak side front pocket. Considering one of these as a way to carry a spare...

Re: Henry All Weather Rifles
I'm curious, what is the beef with front loading the mag tube? Many lever gun aficionados are used to the loading gate on the side of the receiver and do not like the idea of loading a lever gun through the front magazine tube as with rim fire magazine tubes. Some tolerate it and buy a Henry anyway...

The rifle fits the timeline of the picture, but the scope does not....not even close. Could the scope have been "paint shopped" onto the pic ??

Re: The Found Model 73 Rifle.
Years ago ( probably 50 + years ago ) my grandparents moved into a new ( used ) house and when moving some items into the new attic my grandfather found an old gun case and in it was an old Winchester 1894, octagon barrel in 38-55. The butt stock had been cut down for a smaller shooter at sometime i...

How do they compensate for the ship rolling on the waves? I served on destroyers in the Pacific. I was trained in ASW ( anti submarine warfare ), but while operating in the Tonkin Gulf ( South/North Vietnam ), sonar was secured and most of us were reassigned to other stations as we were part of Wea...

Re: Peep/Aperture Sights & lever guns
As rifles are leaned against walls, corners, etc., the firesights don't hold up very well. Maybe I should look at other brands. And maybe you should look at changing your gun handling methods to something a bit more careful. (jes' sayin') . Well - agreed, however - sometimes I have no choice but to...

Re: Peep/Aperture Sights & lever guns
The Williams firesight is a one piece unit and is quite susceptible to damage without a hood around it. I have another firesight front post on my Marlin 45/70....it is damaged enough to require replacement. As rifles are leaned against walls, corners, etc., the firesights don't hold up very well. Ma...

Peep/Aperture Sights & lever guns
Was out shooting my Marlin 30-30 CB rifle ( 24" octagon barrel ) the other day and apparently my front sight is slightly "bumped" and an ever so slight bit out of proper alignment, but still useable for hunting. I have a Williams FP peep sight on the rear and a Williams fire sight for...

Nath......that is a nice single, break ( hinge ) action shotgun and at first glance I thought you had an old Savage (Model 220). I quickly realized your shotgun is similar, but has a few different lines than my old Savage does. As the others have mentioned....a fine picture and a nice companion too !

Henry Big Boy Steel lever guns
Has anyone bought one of the new steel rifles ? If so, how well do they shoot ? I handled one of the new .357 not long ago and it felt very good and sighted real good also. They run about 7 lbs, but balance nicely with the 20" barrel. Not sure if I like loading down the tubular magazine like a ...

Gun Safes
One of these days in the next year or two, I will need to crack for a gun safe. I'm thinking of a size that will hold about 8-12 guns. I suspect this is something like building a pole shed where pretty much everyone says once you decide on the size you want, add about 25% more space. What brands are...

Re: Yesterday I saw.......
Sounds like a gun show from yesteryear.......say the 60's and earlier. The gun shows nowadays aren't really all that interesting. There can be a few exceptions along each aisle, but overall "ho-hum"......gobs of black rifles, etc. At least up here in this part of the world anyway. Looks li...

Re: Military "type" wood stove/tent heater
We've used Four Dog Stoves ( wood stoves ) to heat our canvas wall tent many, many times in cold to very cold conditions. The stoves use a 4-6" flu pipe and with proper draft, are capable of carrying a fire ( or coals ) through the night safely.....safer than most other tent heaters I've seen. ...

Re: Aging Eyes...and aiming/shooting Leverguns
Your never going to beat the view you get through a scope with any iron sight, but I'm still managing with a FP peep with the aperture removed. Makes a sorta ghost ring sight. Couple that with a Williams fire sight bead and your doing as best as you can without a scope. I've been threatening to ins...

Re: Military "type" wood stove/tent heater
I have two canvas wall tents and purchased Four Dog Stoves, one for each of them. I've seen the stove you are asking about, but have no experience with them. If they are cheap enough...why not try one out and see if it meets your needs ? How big/small is your insulated shack ? How cold does it get a...

Re: Aging Eyes...and aiming/shooting Leverguns
A few years back I was deer hunting with my Marlin 30-30 cowboy ( aperture sights ) in big timber in Northern WI on a cloudy afternoon. Darned if a group of fidgety does comes along and a buck is amongst them. I only had a buck tag so I needed to ID the buck to shoot....and the woods was all shadows...

Re: Aging Eyes...and aiming/shooting Leverguns
a) Longer or more historical leverguns mostly used for target shooting - Tang Sights - I like the longer sight radius, and the authentic look. b) Mid-size or more 'practical' leverguns mostly used for deer hunting - Williams FP Sights - I like the precision adjustments and compact durability. Excep...

Re: Aging Eyes...and aiming/shooting Leverguns
Both of my lever guns have Williams fiber optic front posts. The posts sure are easier to see, however - fiber optics are too easy to knock around if one isn't careful.......and junior hasn't been very careful and I must replace it. BTW - does anyone know where I can find a front sight hood that has...

Re: What happened to the 257 Roberts and 25-35?
. Didn't Ruger chamber some rifles for it in the last 10 years or so? I had one but it was way longer ago than that, I'm thinking 20-25 years ago. Nicest little bolt gun you would ever want to see. Total junk, couldn't hit a hat with it at 100 yards. Despite rebedding, barrel crowning, etc etc, and...
