A Christmas moment in the desert

I couldn't bring myself to step on Pitchy's fin thread with this nightmare. You may want to avert your eyes, friends, but I had to get a little sun after more than six decades in the Christmas rain of the Pacific Northwest. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4725/39267209052_69dcfc1f25_s.jpg fulls...

Bronco, I asked because I am loading .44 Special with the 250 Keith for a Ruger Bisley Flat-top -- and hope they will run through the Rossi 92 in .44 Magnum.
I have .44 Mag brass on the way just in case; Graf's has Prvi Partizan on sale for half price -- $14.99 per 100!

How does your .44 Mag lever gun feed 44 Special?

Just wondering if anyone has had issues, especially with the various Model 92s.
I just watched my Steve's Gunz 92 video and he warns that some 92s can be fiddly in this regard.

I heard a rumor that, except for Jackson Hole, out-of-state liberals haven't ruined Wyoming yet. Good luck to ya. We had some light, just-kidding snow in Alamogordo this morning, but the skies cleared this afternoon and it is just a big vault of blue out there all the way to Las Cruces and El Paso. ...

I hadn't realized the crossbow goes so far back in history. FW, agree that "merry" can have the meaning of "slightly tipsy," but the word itself goes back centuries associated with jolly or joyful. Dickens wrote "A Christmas Carol" in 1843, the sixth year of Victoria's reign.

The concept of "Merry Christmas"

This phrase falls from our lips in gushing torrents this time of year, to the point where it loses meaning. But if we pause to think on it, the idea of being merry in this season dates to the original concept of gladness, of joy at learning that the Messiah had been born -- an occasion so grand as t...

I'm with Earl on this. If you are shooting a couple of dozen Trapdoor-pressure 300-grain jacketed loads per year for hunting purposes through your old 1886, I doubt you'd see any appreciable wear in a lifetime. For plinking, I'd stick mostly with lead but for Earl's reasons -- cheaper and fun to &qu...

Years ago I picked up a stripped lower -- just to have one -- and it has only gathered dust. Just noticed you are in Ridgefield. We looked at homes there three years ago. That is a really nice area. It seemed to us, though, that Washington state doesn't seem to care much about land-use planning. We were so used to it in Oregon.

Never been a huge 94 man

I have typically favored Marlin lever guns over the years. Always liked the solid-top receiver, side ejection and easy bolt removal for cleaning. That said, I got a deal I couldn't pass up on a Model 94 made in 1952 and rebored and chambered to .35-30 by P.O. Ackley. Realized I did not know how to f...
