Those rigs with tents on top are popular in southwestern Africa. They keep you up off the ground away from some of the smaller critters and it forces the cobras and mambas to work a little harder to bite you in the face ... :shock:

From the size, I am guessing those campers were in Namibia near or in Etosha National Park, which has the biggest elephants in the world. They are humbling creatures.

Red: The turnoff is just a few miles north of Stinnett, and you wind back down south to the Canadian, emerging through cottonwoods and sunflowers to the small plain where the stores were built. Gives me chills just thinking about the clash of cultures and the brave men on both sides.

If any of you are ever in the Panhandle, you really should make the drive to the Adobe Walls site on the Turkey Track Ranch. Billy Dixon lies there, and he was an honorable man. I felt a real sense of "big medicine" there. My great-grandfather's ranch just a few miles up the Canadian.

I have a nice old 99 with the 1:14 twist barrel, and am having a hard time getting under 2 inches at 100 yards with handloads and bullets of 100 grains or less. Anyone else shooting this rifle with this twist getting better accuracy? Bore and crown are perfect.
