Re: How far can you shoot with iron sights?
I figure if I can consistently reproduce a good enough sight picture to shoot into an inch at 100yds off the bench with buckhorns, a scope isn't really gonna gain me much. Other than in low light situations. The sights aren't the limiting factor, the shooter is (me).

With the velocities that can be obtained in the .45Colt `92's, I wonder why a handloader would even bother with the .454.

It was in the script. The parts he was swapping around were on a percussion gun but for the rest of the movie he used a cartridge conversion. Back then, cartridge conversions had to be done either by the factory or a gunsmith and there was quite a bit of work involved. There were no drop-in cylinder...

Maybe a .22Hornet or .218Bee? Looks like they offer both. I'd like to see it in .32H&R, .327Fed or .32-20. If it really is under six pounds it would be a much more affordable alternative to an old British rook rifle. Thank you Ross Seyfried for giving me that itch that still needs scratchin'. :m...

Anybody get a chance to play with one? I'd never heard of it until I read an article on one in .38-55 in the latest Guns of the Old West. Article said it was actually under 6lbs but their own specs put it at 7½lbs. Either way, it sounds like a great little rifle with a full 26" barrel and comes...

Those are just out-of-the-box Hogue cowboy grips. They are quite a bit thicker than factory and nicely rounded. Had the same problem with my 7½" Bisley .44. It would only shoot to point of aim with full-bore loads. Factory equivalent .44Spl loads it just flung the bullet right over the target. It was going to Clements anyway so I had it fitted with taller, yet interchangeable, custom front sight. http://...

I've been using their 4-16x Tactical model on a Savage .17HMR for almost two years and it's worked nicely. I've shot some unbelievably tiny groups with it. It's a lot of scope for the money. Mine survived a rather abrupt meeting with the pavement with no ill effects.
