I have a .257, 24" barrel, I have used it forPistol Caliber Lever Action silhouette for years, has never stuttered. Tuned up the trigger and smoothed out the action soon after I got it. 8 grains of Lil Gun, 125 grain Berry's Plated Bullets, very little if any recoil, like shooting a .22, knocks...

Ok, so my google-fu is failing me today. As a serious lover of the 357 magnum I am curious to know. What animals have been successfully taken with 357 magnum. I know that I have used it for turkey, deer, coyote, feral dogs and black bear but what else? Chickens, pigs, turkeys and rams. Works great!...

Re: Dating a Stevens rifle
No way to pin down a Stevens rifle beyond the time frame they were built as you already have. Stevens records were destroyed back in the 1920's when a government oversight committee was looking into war profiteering at Stevens, and other companies, and Stevens happened to have a fire in their recor...

Bought this old jewel a couple of weeks ago from a friend at the range. Have been wanting one for about 20 years or so but the opportunity did not arise until now. This is a Stevens Model 417 Walnut Hill .22 target rifle. Heavy barrel 28" , weighs about 10 1/2 pounds. All original, Lyman 48L re...

No, I dont want to take it out to dinner and drinks. :D I recently acquired a Stevens Walnut Hill model 417 target rifle. I know it was made between 1932 and 1940 or 1946 or 1947 depending on what book you use to look it up. It is serial numbered in only two places, those being the bottom of the rec...

While in gunsmith school I picked up an RWS air rifle- cheap! Look at the top of the receiver on the inside. There should be a flat narrow leaf type spring that is the cartridge guide in the inside top. A single screw through the top holds it in place, and they occasionally break over many years. If it has broken it's likely the culprit. Easy to fix, and easy...
