Re: Stevens 425 High Power .35 Remington

Well I did finally get out and shoot the Stevens. It was very pleasant to shoot. Only ran about 10 rounds through it. Recoil was there but not bad at all. I was shooting off hand so I have no idea how accurate it really is. It is a very smooth rifle. Only thing that bothered me was some of the brass...

Re: hey Californians !

I live here and can't keep up with the laws. Not sure about the first shotgun but the last two should be fine. To be safe the guns should be in a case but at the very least the guns and ammo should be stored separately. Sorry but probably not legal to keep your shotgun loaded while in a vehicle.

Re: Security cameras

I use the Blink system . I like it pretty well. You have to remember to turn it on and off. You will eat up a lot of batteries if you are out working in the yard and leave it on. Sometimes high winds or for me bees set it off a lot. I thought the free storage they give you would not be enough but I ...

Re: Rossi Rio Bravo 22lr

My parents bought me a Ithaca 72 in the mid-late 70's from the local hardware store for $80 if I remember right. I think they had stopped making them and the guy at the hardware store told Dad he would sell it to him for cost. I still have it. I put thousands of rounds threw it as a kid. In my hands...

Okay how old is this?

Well going through some of my uncle's things I found this pound of powder. What struck me as strange was the price. $2.50 I started reloading about 35 years ago and have never seen anything close to that. I am guessing it may be some of my Uncle's and Dad's powder from the sixties.

Re: Best Stocked GunShop in Your Area

None in my neck of the woods. There used to be a ton of them but now mostly junk and not much of that. I was in a place here yesterday that had two original 1886's. Man I wanted to make an offer on one but pretty sure it would cause a divorce.

Re: AR-15 or Garand

In just a survival type situation I would rather have a shotgun than just about anything else. Buckshot for deer or two legged critters and bird shot to eat. I agree that an AR would probably be better than a Garand in your situation but I would trade my AR for a nice Garand given the chance.

Re: Parts for an 1895 Winchester

Thanks for the information everyone I am new to the 1895 world . I agree that $50 in books is cheap. The gun looks fine without the top hand guard but I know it originally came with it and would love to have one back on if I could get close to matching the wood. I am sure if I keep my eyes open I wi...

Re: Stevens 425 High Power .35 Remington

well, i shoot a lot of heavier stuff in lever guns, 356, 45/70, 30/06, so it doesn't seem bad to me Good deal. I was just surprised how much the model 8 kicked for not that big of cartridge. I have a .338 Win and a 7 Rem Mag and neither of them kick hardly at all. I have a 50's era 30-30 94 carbine...

Parts for an 1895 Winchester

I recently inherited a couple 1895's. One was a 30-40 Krag built in 1898. It has seen better days but still looks like it is in good mechanical shape. The other was a 30-06 saddle ring carbine built in the early 20's. The 30-06 appears to be in very good shape. Has a Lyman sight on it that looks lik...

I have one too. excellent. smooth action. the first lever action ever made for that cartridge.

good find !!
Hey what is the recoil like on that .35 like? I have shot a model 8 and it pushes you around a lot more than I would think it should in 35 Remington.

Re: Has there ever been a lever action

Shasta You have a 92 with a 65 barrel . I have a 65 that I removed the (freshly relined) .218 BEE barrel and changed to a new .32-20 barrel which sorta makes it a 92..Hehhehh, Naw the .218 BEE or the .22 Hornet are devastating to small critters but there is no silhouette match that I can use either...

I have one in a 218 bee. It is a model 92 with a 65 barrel. Not sure when the conversion was done but fun gun to shoot. Looking forward to letting my grandson shoot it but that will be few years.

Re: Stevens 425 High Power .35 Remington

Here are a few better pics. I am guessing the gun has been refinished but there are no dings or scratches in the metal so I am not completely sure. Screws and lettering are all perfect. The wood has a few dings but overall in great shape for its age.

Re: What's your favourite muzzleloader

Mine would probably have to be this Pedersoli 10 ga I got from my uncle. I used to have a navy arms 12 ga when I was a kid. It was about all I hunted with for a couple years. My Dad gave me his .36 cal Kentucky Rifle the other day too. That is a close second. 93A5AF22-A822-40EC-9D17-6AC187EBD54A.jpeg

Re: Stevens 425 High Power .35 Remington

Looks like a Winchester Marlin crossbreed! :D it does appear to be in good shape BUT that makes me suspicious of it being redone... does it show signs of smeared lettering, rounded corners, buggered screw heads? What are ya waiting for we need a range report! It is in great shape but the blui...

Stevens 425 High Power .35 Remington

Does anyone in here know anything about this rifle. I recently acquired it. Mostly because I have never seen one. Its a Stevens 425 HP in .35 Remington. Looking online they were made between 1910-17. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet but have plenty of ammo to go give it a try. Seems to be in ...

Re: Added a Sharps 1874 Sporting Rifle No.3 (.45-70)

Cool gun. I just inherited a Uberti 1874. Pretty sure the barreled actions are made by Pedersoli. Mine only has a 30" barrel and I need to upgrade the tang sight but happy to have it. If things slow down this winter I will try and work up some loads for it. Probably be asking lots of questions....
