Melting Batteries for the Lead
Salvaging lead from batteries can be hazardous to your health. The "maintenance free" batteries are not like the older lead plate batteries. The ones these days have calcium and other alloying elements in them. The danger comes when alloys containing calcium are melted with those containi...

There were 2 different types of Freechec Tools. One made gaschecks for gascheck bullets. One made gaschecks for plainbase bullets. There were several evolutions of said tools. If you use the WayBack Machine you can browse the old Hanned Line where some of Paco's Tools were sold some years ago ... th...

How's Your S&W?
A number of us on this Forum have S&W sixguns. A not-so-common problem can arise, especially on the K-frame guns. The "window" that the cylinder hand works in sometimes develops a crack. The crack usually starts on what is the lower right corner of the window as you look at the recoil...

Kimwcook I have never read of a hunter being lost to that form of instability. You would have far more chance of being killed by an animal. Your outfitter is not going to let you wander around a dangerous urban area. Go if you can you will love it. Regards As Bramble has said, that is not really a ...

While I honor your opinion, Jim, ... I've finally come to understand that when I start a sentence that way, it's time to stop talking. No problem. I don't want anyone to QUIT unless that is the voice of their conscience. I do want to provoke people to THINK . To keep doing the same thing over and o...

I am not an expert having only been to Africa once, but I have checked a few places. Depending on where you hunt, quite often the meat is - by law - designated for the local populace. Africa is protein-starved in many places. The meat is often requred to be given to the people. The safari we went on...

Jim, That's kinda my point. Flukes happen. Odds of stopping an attack increase with power factor. I guess I did sound kinda rude, though. I didn't take your post as rude. This is an interesting post with many interesting responses. My favorite .25 ACP story goes back to Vallejo, CA, and dates to the late '60's. It involves Lloyd Schoenauer (Sp?) who ran the Vallejo Rifle Ranch. Lloyd found himself involved in a gunfight with a man who pulled a .25 ACP and emptied it...

Boys .. I will tell you that I am disappointed. Some of you would complain if they hung you with a used rope. Here we don't know a thing about it yet and nothing but gloom and doom is forecast. Re: SAA in .44 Spec vs .45 Colt
Can someone explain the fascination with an SAA in .44 Spec when there are .45 Colt available? I can't understand it either. The .44 and the .45 are both limited to 14,000 CUP in the SAA, and both shoot similiar weight bullets at similiar weight velocities. I guess the deciding factor would come do...

How long was the shot? How fast were they flying? :) Not sure how fast they were going. They passed a 767 that was on approach. I took the lead reindeer at a lasered 987 yards. They kept going until I dropped the 2nd one. That stopped them, but the shot was just over 1420 yards by then. The dang sl...

Merry Christmas To All
The Greatest Gift God sent the angel Gabriel to the Galilean village of Nazareth to a virgin engaged to be married to a man descended from David. His name was Joseph, and the virgin's name, Mary. Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her: Good morning! You're beautiful with God's beauty, Beautiful inside ...

Andy Law from England used his .357 in Africa on Plains Game. He used factory 158 gr. ammo .. http://www.leverguns.com/articles/357_magnum_safari.htm The deer I have seen taken with the .357 rifle were taken with the 158 gr. JHP. Our deer are not huge and the shots are close. The load gave complete ...
