Re: Sunday Question
I try to remember that I am never alone (and I know that I never have been) and sort of keep up a running conversation going. Not all the time of course, but if we all thought that God was right there with us, we would likely be more polite to each other.

They had original center fire 66s? I was under the impression that all 66s were chambered for the.44 Henry Flat which was a rimfire cartridge. But I admit that I haven’t studied this in great detail.

No MIM or plastic parts in my old gun. The hammer is much heavier and falls harder. Lock time might be increased, but not so you can tell. The trigger pull is definitely longer, but I would rather have a gun that goes "BANG!" every time I pull the trigger.

I get lead at the airport. They put a bunch of sheets of lead in the bottom of some planes when they bring them over from France (they tell me that it is for ballast). It appears to be pure lead, and the addition of a little tin makes some great bullets. The only issue is that the sheets are about 1...

It’s a Brazil contract gun. But it isn’t marked 1917. I always call them a 1937. The barrel says “S. & W. D.A. .45”. I know that it’s basically the same gun.

I’ve been messing around with.45 ACP revolvers for some time. I’ve come to seriously distrust some of the MIM parts in newer S&W revolvers. But my old S&W 1937 seemed different to me because of the old longer action. But the problem doesn’t seem to be a problem at all after swapping out the ...

I'm not pushing the .45 Colt as hard as some folks do. I'm fond of a 270 SAA bullet sized to .454 over 13 gr of HS-6 at the moment. My Rossi 92 loves it as does my Ruger Blackhawk. My handgun shooting limits me to 40-50 yards. But I can reach out there with the .45 Colt in a rifle. I load a lot of the Hornady Cowboy bullets over 8.5 gr of Unique and I treat it like a big .22. Seems to shoot well in my revolvers and both of my leverguns. I don't think that load is too stressful...

Favorite combinations. (Rifle and handgun)
I like the idea of using the same cartridge for bumming around with both my rifle and revolver.
But when I carried a gun for serious business my levergun was a .30-30 because of the extra power and penetration.
This combo of a .44 Special and a .30-30 made sense.
