nice one Scott. I started on a ruger 480 bolt action carbine project at one point but costs defeated me. A rossi 92 or ruger no.1 sure would have been nice to find.

C.E harris the cast bullet expert once sent me data with printouts from the Hercules 1995 manual and Alliant 2005 manual showing 23.5 grains of Rel 7 behind a 240 grain cast for 1290fps in 44-40. Thats a 24"barrel and pressure was low, 12500 Cup. He said it was a consistent performer in his gun...

I really like the XTP bullet. But the only one I have used in the .44 mag is the 240 gr version. Yes he sure does some good tests. At 38 special velocities the other two great bullets are the speer 135gn GDHP and Remington 125 golden sabre. These will expand fully under 875fps impact, the Golden sabre slightly lower velocity than the GDHP too( about 850fps). The Remington 125 SJHP is a good one...

Hi fellas, never used this powder. On the charts looks similar rate to 2400 but I dont see it on hodgons reloading data for 357 or 44. Is it obsolete maybe or just not suitable

A friend told me about these, I hadnt heard of this config before- I see its got a 1:16 twist, not marlins normal 1:38". Any idea on what the barrels slug at and whether a brand new one would avoid the quality issues marlin had a while back?

My R92 is 20" barrel, standard wood/blued and wears a bushnell red dot and flashlight with remote pressure switch. Being a Rossi Im not too concerned about it getting wet or dirty.
