Without the internals and in the condition described, I'd offer no more than $100 for it. It might be worth more, but I wouldn't offer more. A complete gun in this area is going for $700+ depending on condition and chambering (the 1890s are specifically one thing or another, the other models are .22...

So, I went back to inspect the rifle and make the purchase. I will post up pictures as soon as time permits, but here is what I know - 1. The mag tube is loose and has rust right under the loading gate (opening) on the mag tube. 2. The front sight is loose, but easy fix. 3. The barrel has some rust...

Re: what premium for box and unfired?
Having the original box often makes it easier to sell. This is particularly true for major brands and the rarer pieces such as the .32-20 Marlins. People who toss or burn the boxes drive up prices for them somewhere down the road. I seldom buy a new gun, VERY seldom but do look for boxes although it...

One has to learn to maintain them. Improper wick length can result in very smelly operation. I used one as the sole source of heat for one winter in the ROK and was fine but was burned out by one neighbor's incorrect operation of one.Mescalero wrote:Tycer,

RESURRECTION! After all these years I've come to some slightly different conclusions on the cartridge/rifle. #1, it would be on an older Winchester Model 94 and be a button mag rifle with a ROUND barrel of no more than 24". #2, A thin rubber pad would be ok but I would prefer the checkered stee...

I have all 3. The max can equal the FACTORY .35 Rem and is easier to load as one doesn't need to lube the case for the carbide dies. The Max is really versatile using dawdling and quiet .38 Special loads to the .35 Rem equivalent. It is a favorite. http://shootingwithhobie.blogspot.com/2006/02/blog-...

It was an improvement or change, not a fix. The current owners have discontinued the G2 version and are not, apparently, even providing parts at cost. Likely, if the bolts as is work in the receiver, as is, the only problem you might have is the hammer spring which might take a set after a lot of use.
