Tradgang, Leatherwall, Leverguns, and MarlinOwners take up 90% of my time on the internet. I have a Wing recurve I bought for my birthday in 1970, a dozen different makes and models of recurves and have made 6 longbows and a takedown recurve. Love traditional archery and will soon be back making bow...

Question about calibers .38-70 and .38-72!

Do I have this right?

The .38-70 was a Winchester 1886 cartridge and the .38-72 was in the Winchester 1895?

Appreciate the help!

I lived in Missoula for 15 years and often traveled south to Lolo and I've never seen anything like that...just my guess the picture was taken somewhere else.

My favorite is a Marlin 336A from '51 in .35 Remington. Next two runner's up are a '49 Marlin 336RC in .32 Special and a Browning 71 rifle.

It would be an easy $100 more, if I had found that same rifle here in Montana. Go for it!

I saw one in a sporting goods store in Great Falls Montana a few weeks ago...they had it priced at $650. I'd say 85% condition. I can't remember the scope they had on it.

Henry-the first name of my mom's dad. Great fisherman and bird hunter. Gone 20 years.

McCann is my dad's mother's maiden name. She was the finest grandmother anyone could ask for. Made the best cinnamon rolls on the planet. I still miss her.
