Re: .38 Spl. man stopper?
I think the .38 would be fine. Personally I believe there is too much concern over a one shot stop. Get a copy of Mas Ayoob's "IN THE GRAVEST EXTREME" and read it thru a couple of times. Lots of good advice in there should you be in a gun fight. I think I remember him writing that if its n...

Nice set up. Here I was hoping you had decided to put the scope in the "pay it forward" classifieds or sell it really cheap. I need one for my Rem 513T. I have a problem paying more than twice as much for a scope as I gave for the rifle.

Re: 500 S&W Magnum Handi rifle
I would buy the .500 before the .45-70 simply because I could use the .500 to hunt deer in Indiana and I can't .45-70. But then if I were going to buy a Handi for hunting I would go with a .44 cause I'm already set up for reloading.

Jason,
Check out the Feb issue of American Rifleman......they tested nine .380 ccw pistols.
Rohrbaugh R380 was best with no malfunctions, new out of the box.
Taurus 738 TCP was second with only 2 malfunctions, new out of the box.
All the others tested needed extensive break in before being reliable.

I think it is a good idea and seems to work well. I have had and used Win 74, Rem 66, Browning ATD, all worked very well. I presently have a Norinco ATD (Browning copy) and it works too.
