New rifle load
I worked up a wicked rifle load for my winchester 1892 357 mag today. I am using 38 +p brass (annealed), H110 and the montana bullet works 160 grain hcfn-gc. I hit 2125 avg velocity (at 7 yards) from a 24" barrel. Thats 1604 ftlbs of energy with no pressure signs at all!!!!

Re: Why 357 only?
That makes sense.
I only ask because my favorite "magnum" load is built on 38 +p brass. It will not feed at all using magnum brass since C.O.A.L is too long but is phenominal in the 38 +p configuration.

I carried an AR professionally for most of my life but now that I am retired, I always grab a levergun, not in 30-30 though. I typically choose 45 colt or 357 mag as my go-to rifles. If I cant handle the problem with 13rds of 357 or 12 rounds of 45 colt, then I am in over my head anyway. And, lets b...

We age all of our venison for 4 to 5 days in the spare fridge. It REALLY allows it to tenderize as the muscle fibers break down. Temp is 40 degrees. We set the meat into pasta strainers so the blood.leaks away and doesnt taint it.
