Dad's 1951 model 94. All of my other uncles hunted with surplus bolt actions, muzzle loaders, bows, or shotguns. We both had a Western addiction and where we hunted the 94 worked best.

Another vote for Paul Bond. I wore Justin for decades, have a good pair of Lucchese, but these Paul Bond roper style are the most comfortable walking boot I've had.

Filled out the papers today and talked with the shop owner. No story to tell. A local collector is getting old and brought it in, he's gradually selling off his collection. I need to pick up some dies and slug the bore when it comes home.

Re: 1873 Winchester iron receivers

The bore is actually shiny and rifling looks well defined if not sharp. I'll have to run a bore scope when it's finally home. I might have got it cheaper by waiting but I'm just tickled to get it. I'll make up for it in a future trade. Wish my Dad could have shot it.

The bore actually looks decent although the pic doesn't show it. A grand was as low as he'd go, he's had several new 1873s on the rack and they move pretty well. The stocks have been re-oiled.

I've been dealing with the owner for about 15 years and he's always been square with me. I'll ask what he knows about it. Yup, it's a 44 but too early to be marked as one. It's got the early flip up rear sight and barrel mounted front sight... think I'm going to like that combo. Saw your mention of the new steel links in an earlier thread and ordered a set last night.

Thanks!

1873 Winchester iron receivers

Hey Guys, the local shop has an old 1873 SRC manufactured in 1880. No splits in the wood and no pitting, barrel markings are still legible but there's not any visible blueing left that I could find. I can still see rifling in the barrel but it looks like about 140 years worth of crud that needs clea...

Marlin Marauder Numrich barrel ?

Hey Guys, does anyone know if the barrel stamping was positioned the same on those Marauder barrels Numrich sold?

I've seen 2 different 35rem Marauder barrels where the rear sight cut was over the New Haven address instead of starting over "-Micro-Groove."

Thanks, TW
