Re: Lever Action Rifle Match

There are some tang sights, my brother uses one on his Rossi 357. We also use open sights as fitted by the rifle manufacturer, and receiver sights by Williams and Lyman. The big target sights you're seeing are Anshultz , quite a few use them on their rimfires or open centerfires. If you are good eno...

Lever Action Rifle Match

So SSAA WA put together a promo video to show what we do. Part of what we shoot is CLAS, but the rest is paper targets shot in a way that you guys apparently don't do. There are a dedicated bunch of us shooting these matches all over Australia. This year I've travelled 5,000 miles to attend one stat...

Re: So, Lookin' at 357mag Levergun Plinkin' Loads With Lil'Gun

I found Lil'Gun was way too hot for shooting 10 shot strings, so I settled for 14 grains of 296 behind Accurate's 36-175B which casts at 180 gr from ww+2%tin. That load is my 200 meter ram load for CLAS. The other powder that works well is 2400, but here on the west coast of Oz you can't get that an...

It won't be good for your shoulder to shoot the 45-70, you need to buy either a 357 magnum rifle or a 44-40 rifle, whichever of the two you don't already have. :P

I use Lee carbide dies and Winchester nickel cases for all my 357 stuff. I actually think the nickel cases are tougher than the plain brass, they are certainly tougher to size, requiring a bit more grunt on the press handle. Normally I lube them a bit to make things easier, which I never did when I ...
