I have three trucks that are all good, 90 Chevy 4/4. 01 F250 with 7.3 diesel 4/4. And a 011 GMC four door that will hold a pile of rifles and ammo under the back seat. I am starting to like the 4 door trucks more and more.

Griff I have always thought the 30-30 is the perfect round for Texas hunters, I have been a dedicated lever hunter for 38 years and never found it lacking. When I leave the house with my Winchester, there is gonna be some blood in the back of the truck when I get back.

When my fuel pump went out the tank was full, so I lifted the bed off. There were eight bolts all with lock tight, I had a heck of a time he manning them off, and I am a big dude. I would replace the filter first it is cheap and easy.

Doc, they were asking 9 dollars a pound for goat hams in the Mexican butcher shop yesterday. Most folks down here have Boer goats and real stout fence.

Bob, you would feel right at home in West Texas. Pics 5 & 6 look a lot like my place there, I have seen it 113 in summer and -8 in winter, and the wind rarely ever stops, and seems to change direction every 15 minuets. Thanks for the pics, I have always dreamed of going to Australia some day.

Apply NAPTHA with a Q tip to all gluing surfaces. A can of ronswick lighter fluid like the kind your grandpa used for his zippo lighter is made of naptha and is cheap.

AJ take a larger sized hex wrench and file it with a good long file to fit. Put it in a vice and cut one side then the opposite side etc. I guess a bench sander would work too, but I prefer a file for exacting work, and no chance of burning it.

Mescalero you are right, a good .22 is turkey hunting at it's finest. I saw about 20 rio grandes at the ranch this last week and about 6 pigs as big as a shoebox.

He meant to bring his browning auto shotgun. His wife of 54 years handed me a gun bag, I put it in the truck. Despite a great dove season, there were no birds to shoot that trip. We gave him a bad time about it then, and we still are.

I have a savage 110 in 270 that willmget your attention right quick. A browning. 270 (ported) is a real cream puff. The 30-30 in a 26 in barrel will kill everything you want.

I use molded plugs every time. I like them most for hunting as I can back them out just a touch to hear, and when it is time to shoot they just need a very slight touch to engage them fully. They stay in the ranch truck so I always have em.

Took whole family to the ranch. Did some chainsaw work. Ate BBQ doves and squirrel gumbo made it best TG ever. Kids did a lot of shooting. Stayed for five days and was heaven.

Ji next time you are in Texas, There is a cool taco place on the rough side of San Antone that makes a dish called Morcilla con Toriados (blood sausage with grilled jalepenos on a ho-made flour tortilla). This stuff is so good you will bite yourself for not having tried it earlier.
