From what I have seen, there were conversations among officers that they should go in but we’re awaiting orders. I don’t understand why the school chief, or whatever he is supposed to be, did not see himself or assert himself as incident commander. I’m not sure I even believe him. I haven’t seen any...

Re: Bullet length/seating depth
Theoretically your thoughts are sound that loading the two bullets to the same base depth would yield similar pressure. However things like bearing surface and jacket hardness affect pressure too. I doubt there is much difference in these bullets though but you need to work up loads for both indepen...

Those have all the evidence of being factory rounds and no evidence of them being hand loaded. I would shoot them and not worry about it. As for the box, the rounds are probably just short enough for say the 30-30 size instead of the 243/308 size, so they used the smaller box. The 100 grain may have...

Yeah 44 mag and hot 45 colt are about all I want and prefer shooting reg 45 Colt, ACP, Schofield, midrange and cowboy 44 mag, 44 special, 40 S&W and the like. These all kick just enough to feel like I’m shooting something and will put a big enough hole in whatever I’m likely to shoot with a hand...

Nice inverse bottleneck fire form. Would work great for reduced powder loads in a front loading cylinder!
I think a 308 in a 270 or 25-06 would be much worse. I have an old 44 DA first model, 44 Russian of course. The cylinder will easily hold even 300 grain 44 mag! Scary

Was it ever really popular though? I always saw it as a FA cartridge til Ruger chambered the Super Blackhawk for it. The Taurus jumped on. You pretty much just lost the Taurus option which is probably the worst of the lot. But Taurus drops models often any way. Maybe T/C dropped 454 too and H&R/...

I stated I was curious as I would be much more likely to turn a 243 into a 260, 7mm-08, 308, 338 Fed etc. For me the 243 offers no meaningful advantage over larger calibers on short cases other than lighter recoil and maybe reall...

I would think the job is about the same as rebarrelling a bolt gun. Depends largely on who makes the barrel.

I like the 1886 and 1892 Winchester more than the 1894. The 1894 just seems a bit peculiar in cycling and the whole holding the lever tight to fire thing. They just seem overly complicated to me. Those bullets look nice. They look lever friendly too. No I don’t have the experience but another nine grains in a lead bullet should be feasible in the Russian. Could always try Trail Boss just below the bullet base. Probably low velocity though

Your approach seems reasonable to me. Maybe make a cap out of wood or something with a hole in it so you can put it over the bullet and cut off the nose that sticks out. I never knew such things existed. It’s really an odd duck. Really long and heavy but still fast for a pistol bullet. Really soft, therefore slow for a rifle. I can see why it would be great for pins if the accuracy is there. Standard 38 isn’t very authoritative on a bowling pin. 357 will knock them ...
