Re: OT - Ouch, that left a mark!
I was setting out flares, so I was not inside the car. I had parked in the left of several lanes, well behind two accident scenes, on the crest of the preceding overpass, so my strobes would be visible for miles. Two flares were on the pavement, and I had two more, lit, in my hands. It was a clear n...

I like the Browning BLR folding hammer; when the hammer is at half-cock, the spur can be folded forward for an extra margin of safety. The act of cocking the hammer, to full-cock, puts the spur back into ready-to-fire mode. No extra motions; no separate act to remember. I have mixed feelings about t...

Re: What's your favorite big game capable walking gun?
With my bad knee, I reckon a walking stick would be mandated if moving through the woods on broken ground, here in the nearby thickets of East Texas, so a walkin' gun would be the same thing as a PPP, Perfect Packin' Pistol. That would be a toss-up between a .357 double-action GP100 or a .45 single-...

Penetration of hard cover is indeed a valid consideration. BEWARE of long-action BLRs! Several have mentioned they do not handle as well as the short-actions. Collector's Firearms in Houston often has one or two used ones, and they move fairly quickly, if they price them right.
