Re: Recoil as I age

Until abt 1980, the only rifles I had were .30-30s. Quite adequate for deer & coyotes of Southern California. That year I was invited to replace one of a foursome who'd hunted together for several years. I was flat told that my .30-30 would be inadequate for the areas they hoped we'd be drawn fo...

I have or have had one or more of each of those. The single-six (convertible) came to me as payment for doing a tuneup on neighbor's car, left in a trade for a Marlin 336 in .30-30. I got the .357 3-screw in a purchase off a co-worker. It left to fund my Wife's 2nd Gen SAA. The Rossi .357 mdl 65 (92...

It seems ever since I hit 70, even cutting carbs doesn't work. What I have noticed, since when I'm on the road, eating 2 meals a day, is that prices are way UP! I have had a Lee Loader for the .30-30 since about 1973. Someone gave it to me, and the "who that was" is lost in the excess of information stored in the ol' noggin' and a poor filing system. But, suffice to say, before I ever accumulated enough brass (and the courage), to use it, someone ...

Call me "Whimpy". I've never liked the 44 Mag, even with factory ammo. And it didn't take me very many rounds to come to that conclusion. In the mdl 94 Winchester carbine, the factory 44 Mag ammo beat my shoulder to death, much worse than .30-30s in the same model carbine, so I typically s...

Don't give up hope, Marlin chambered the 1894 in 41 Rem Mag with Micro-Groove rifling in both stainless (1894S) and blued (1894FG) as well as 6 groove Ballard rifling (1894CCL). Not every S or CCL was a 41 Mag, as both of those were chambered for other cartridges. They are out there.
