Or the right primer, when your not playing on the edge, sometimes it's that simple to go from bleah to wow. Try at least 2 other brands of primer in it before you give up on the powder. I've seen it work too many times.

It was my understanding that the Buffalo weren't elusive prey to the meat or skin hunter. As I recall reading they rode up within range and shot as many as they felt like skinning. Cool rifle, Great cartridge, I plan on using my Marlin 1893 in 38-55 again this year. My wallet has been very lucky that I have not spotted one of those cowboys in that caliber on a rack/table. I'd have a hard time resisting one even though I'd probably still not give up using my 1893 for the field.
