Now, I could see a lot of potential uses for this cartridge depending on pressure level. But if you had a rifle that can handle 30 K PSI, it could really rock things for the amounts of ammo it could hold that still had some real stopping power! -Tutt

I've shot one at long range, not sure what they do at 100 yards, probably like my 71/84 Mauser and shoot really high at that point. The Mauser doesn't even shoot to point of aim until 200 yards with a smokeless load that duplicates original ballistics. Very nice video. -Tutt

I looked it up and the 44 Mag case has 37.9 grains of water capacity and the 45 Colt has 41.6 grains of H20 case capacity. So 3.7 grains difference. -Tutt

I was really surprised and disappointed that the Henry failed as well! My 360 grain Keith bullets from Frank of Mt. Baldy did around 13-1350 fps out of a 20" Rossi in 45 Colt if a remember right. Old Savage might remember more than me. They were a starting Ruger load straight out of the Hodgdon...

I'm actually not too surprised the mag tube suffered a failure. According to my Hodgdon reloading manual, in a 20" barrel, a 300 grain 44 Mag generates 38,800 PSI @ 1473 fps, and these folks stated their rounds were traveling @ 1550 fps. I'm no ballistician, but I suspect that had to be in exc...
