I think we all should take whatever opportunity we have to be in a hunting camp with good friends again. We should not let this tradition die out.
I have a theory about the extra levergun. I think someone had to take the photograph and it is his levergun.

In September of 2014, I caught myself looking at a post that I made on FB for the purpose of seeing how many "likes" it got. I came to the realization that this was poison to me and I was frankly surprised that I would give anyone else that kind of power to judge me or my post. I shut down...

One of our people brought a lot of Winchester LP primers to the shoot in Arkansas, I bought 5000 on the spot as he was asking a fair price. I didn't really need them, but there's no reason not to have them. I'm glad to see that some powder is getting through to dealers. Before Thanksgiving I ordered...

Re: 30-30 Stuff
I saw a Winchester ad from back in the old days where they were promoting a .32-20 as a deer cartridge. My brother and I started shooting deer with a 110 grain soft point in an M-1 Carbine that dad bought for $15 from an ad in the American Rifleman. We didn't lose any deer, but the ranges were short...

They had original center fire 66s? I was under the impression that all 66s were chambered for the.44 Henry Flat which was a rimfire cartridge. But I admit that I haven’t studied this in great detail.

No MIM or plastic parts in my old gun. The hammer is much heavier and falls harder. Lock time might be increased, but not so you can tell. The trigger pull is definitely longer, but I would rather have a gun that goes "BANG!" every time I pull the trigger.

I get lead at the airport. They put a bunch of sheets of lead in the bottom of some planes when they bring them over from France (they tell me that it is for ballast). I like the idea of using the same cartridge for bumming around with both my rifle and revolver.
But when I carried a gun for serious business my levergun was a .30-30 because of the extra power and penetration.
This combo of a .44 Special and a .30-30 made sense.
