Thinkin about another Win 94
I was at my local Cabela's monday and seen a 94 in .32 spl. I think it was a pre war model. No I didn't check the ser. #. But it had the old style nurled hammer instead of the serrated one. I'm not looking for rifle really but always check out the used rack. The finnish on the stock was comming off ...

I do all the deer my daughter, dad and I shoot every year. I ain't fast but I know where its been and how it was kept until butchering. I seen one processer throw deer in a livestock trailer piled to the ceiling. It was very warm that year also, so I'm sure that was some fine tasting deer... Not!

Darrel you should try to make the Lexington show in August every year. Its the CLA annual and you can get up close to some of the best stuff being made these days. I don't know how far you are from Lexington, KY but if you like traditional muzzleloaders its worth going at least once.

Gobbler I use wrought iron with old springs or 1080 for bits in the hawks. I think the wrought works better than mild steel for axe heads. I use 1080 or 1084 for my knife blades. This is one of my best heads.

A Marlin 336 was the first deer rifle I had. My parents got for a christmas gift wnen I was thirteen. I've had 30-06, 300 savage, 45-70, 7mm-08 and now I'm back to the 30-30 marlin. It's enough gun for where I shoot and I've never lost a deer with it. I've got a 1894 Winchester rifle in 32-40 that I...

Kirk do you get unburned powder with 5744 in your 45-60 loads. I loaded some up with 22 grains for my Uberti 1876 and had unburned powder. Do you use magnum primers or standard? It's not a lot of powder for that size case.

Thanks Ed, you got me to thinking. All my loads that day were lead bullets but my 32-40 rounds had gas checks on them. Maybe they had something to do with the readings I was getting. They get crimped on pretty good when I size my bullets but maybe some were flying off just after they left the barrel.

If they grab in the wrong spot they do get cut up most of the time. My other cur just healed up from a coon bite. She grabbed it at the back end instead of the the neck. If they do much fighting with other critters they usually learn quick or quite.
