Re: I love old model Rugers

That’s nice Pat…you don’t see those early boxes too much….my guess is early to mid sixties….. There’s another variation that seldom gets talked about or seen….the tri color single sixes…. Those tri colors are super rare , Dougan's book has a lot of good info on them, never seen one in person. The re...

Re: I shot my new SAA

I have several of the Kuhnhausen books. I'll check and see if I have the one for Colt SAAs. I have about 15 Blackhawks and SBHs and I've put either Bisley or SBH hammers in all of them. I lower the cocking notches of the new hammers down to .012, measured with a feeler gauge and it eliminates all o...

Re: I shot my new SAA

Any of the SAA made in the last 30 years have EDM cut hand slots .Most are as rough as an cast frame in that slot. If you really want a 1st Gen quality feel you'll have to do some stoning to hand slot and face of hammer and any area in frame where contact is made which is also EDM cut. Just enough t...

The early Colt SAA manual says if your SAA is new or not abused it is safe to carry on safety notch with all six chambers loaded. You can see in these manuals late 50's - 80's the trend toward same as Ruger.
