Had it back out today 10 shots at 25 yards just under 2" with CCI SV . I did however detect what may be a tiny bulge which I found cleaning surface freckling off barrel .Actually felt it before seeing it. Can't see or feel it in bore .. For cheap boys rifle it's a shooter.

That would be easy enough to change , you can get the "No harm" hammer screws with saddle rings on them. Or if you really want you could drill it for the staple type . Of course short rifles never came with saddle rings unless they were special ordered. The 1873 and 1892 used the staple ,s...

The Japanese Winchesters are decent looking solid copies of a rare and expensive version of Winchester 1892. Nice handy design. I'm an 1892 snob though so I don't like the tang safety , not a fan of the heavily stamped barrel markings, Some other subtle cosmetics are slightly off to the original. I ...

So the pre-war tang had 20º angles on the sides, and the inlet in the stock had a matching 20º angle, like a dovetail. And post-war, the sides of the tang were 90º and had a matching inlet in the stock? Exactly , this was a major change to the receiver as it was easier to produce ,more durable , no...

Nice , I see the ledger states 2" longer stock with 1" more drop. Appears to have Lyman patent bead front sight .
1 pound heavier barrel .

I wonder what was done when returned to factory?
Almost wonder if barrel was shortened to reduce weight ?
May have been heavier than expected.
