Re: For patients who live with 'chronic pain'

For diabetic foot pain, I clench my toes into a "fist" and hold it really hard. Helps a lot. When I read this, I immediately remembered Bruce Willis doing this in the movie "Die Hard." Then I thought to myself "but what if I DON'T want to fight off terrorists today?" :...

Re: Fresh chuckle at my expense

I am not normally the kind of guy to want to infringe on others' rights,..... but there should be a LAW against putting Preparation H in a tube that looks like TOOTHPASTE!
I don't want to explain why I came to this conclusion...... but you can probably guess.

Re: Savage comes up with a whole new action

Here is an interesting article on straight-pull rifles. Several of them use ball bearings like the Savage. Although I understand why Savage made these in a long-enough action for a 300 Win Mag, I would really like one with a shorter throw. I would love to be able to keep my cheekweld while cycling t...

Re: Suggestions please, for beginner reloading 30-30

The 30-30 that I intend to work with first has a 20" octagonal barrel that I hope will reduce the effect of the magazine on accuracy. At the time I got it, I had read an article or two that claimed that stiffer-barreled leverguns, especially ones with octagonal barrels, were more likely to be a...

Re: Suggestions please, for beginner reloading 30-30

Thanks for the suggestions. I know that I have been overthinking it, but after 20 or so years of visiting sites like AccurateShooter.com, where benchrest shooters agonize about a tenth of a grain of powder and a couple thousands of an inch jump to the lands, it is tough to change the mindset. Years ...

Suggestions please, for beginner reloading 30-30

I am finally getting around to using the reloading tools I bought many years ago. I have spent waaay too much time reading posts from reloaders who spend a great deal of time trying to get the perfect seating depth for modern cartridges. My reloading manuals all just give an OAL rather than a distan...

Re: Primer Flash Test Photos by German Salazar

As near as I can tell, those photos are from 2005. 6mmBR changed its name to AccurateShooter a number of years ago. The photos are still interesting, though. I wonder if current production primers are the same. To answer some earlier questions, the exposure time was long enough to cover the complete...

Re: Tips for unfired, rough-functioning Winchester model 94's

Ha! Lookee what I found! Will the half-cock lower tang work equally well in either a cross-bolt or tang safety? FWIW, the cross-bolt has a 16" barrel and the tang safety a 20" barrel. Griff was right of course, my Canadian Centennial is a '67. I got it around 2005. That was not a good peri...

Re: 30-30 Chambers

I know that 30-30 was used in Encores, Contenders and even some target rifles when that Clymer reamer was made, so it is possible that only they got the better chambers.

30-30 Chambers

Do current manufacturers use the SAAMI 30-30 chamber, or do they use a modernized version? I have a reamer from the Winchester New Haven plant (dated 1998) that appears to be SAAMI, but I also have a Clymer 30-30 reamer bought in the early 2000's that is different and looks more like that of a moder...

What is the current view of US made Winchester AE 94's

Hi Guys, I haven't had much involvement with firearms for over 15 years, so I am trying to get my bearings. When I picked up a couple of Winchester M94's in 2006 or so, the New Haven plant was shutting down and there was concern that lever actions were going out of style. Like most boys from my gene...

Re: Tips for unfired, rough-functioning Winchester model 94's

I have not done much with the youngest rifle (tang safety), but I will keep the blueing salts issue in mind when I do. I guess that my question is whether the triggers on the rebounding hammer models can be improved enough. I am also open to the suggestion to sell the angle ejects to buy another lev...

Tips for unfired, rough-functioning Winchester model 94's

I am looking for tips on improving the action and trigger feel on some Winchester Model 94's. I have been away from shooting for many years and need all the help I can get from the rifles to be able to hit anything. I have three 30-30's that were bought around 2005-2006 and stored away, unfired. One...
