Re: Winchester 94 receiver sight questions for the experts
The only levergun I've put a receiver sight on and not needed to replace the front sight was a modern Marlin 1895 w/22" barrel. That said, why the aversion to replacing it? There are lot of nice post-style front sight options out there. My favorites are the ones from Skinner. Pisgah nailed the...

Winchester 94 receiver sight questions for the experts
Fellas, I finally found a good condition Winnie 94 Trapper (.30-30). It is a pre safety top eject model, with a post front sight as opposed to a bead. I am very interested in installing a receiver sight on this carbine, but I have a few questions. First, is it true that I will not be able to zero a ...

Re: Talley extra low rings?
If I'm remembering right, these are "low" Talley's, and the scope is a 32mm. If you want "extra low" then I'd look up the specs on the two and see how much shorter the extra low are. I suspect they will put the bell just a hair's width above the folded rear sight, and certainly ...

I have a set of lows on my 444 with a 32mm scope, and there is approx. 1/8" clearance between the scope and the folded down rear sight. Not sure how much lower the extra lows are, but I would think they would work for you. I can get you better measurement tonight if you want. That would be gre...

Well, I couldn't resist. I needed another .30-30 lever, and my local store had 5% off all long guns. I looked it over first. Sights were straight, decent wood that was acceptably fit to the receiver, bluing looked even with a decent polish. The action seemed "new" but not rough and didn't ...

. I don't remember any such combination coming out of the factory - Maybe somebody with a M336 Youth Model could chime in. Did you look at the SN to determine when it was born ? . No, I did note a crossbolt safety. And the barrel band was not centered, but placed directly behind the front sight.

I spied a used Marlin on the rack at my local store, but I am wondering if it has been tinkered with. The barrel says it is a CS, but it has a 16.5 inch barrel and a youth length stock. Does this sound like a 'smith job to you guys, or a factory rifle?
