Jim's a great friend too. We have spent a few nights together around the fire at deer camps. I don't keep track of him like I should and this will be an opportunity to visit.

Look what I found

An old friend was liquidating part of his collection and he asked me (and others) to pick through the guns privately before they were put out for the public.

This Browning 92 was engraved by my good friend Jim Riggs many years ago.

I have Rossi 92s in .357 (Jim Taylor's old gun), .44 magnum and a very old one in .45 Colt. I drive a Jeep and it has been a while since I was out of the country. Most of my trips abroad were paid for by Uncle Sam.

Thanks guys,

Bruiser was laid to rest next to my pistol range on the ranch. Digging that grave in the rocky ground was therapy for me. The stones will be there long after what was left of him are gone. I wrapped him up in my old Mexican blanket because he always loved a warm blanket.

I've looked at them because I would like a .500 Linebaugh levergun. But that is a lot of scratch and I have a hard time parting with it!

Gorgeous rifles and probably worth every penny.

But I am really impressed with the Japanese guns.

I would not own a Winchester 66 except that the Winchester name was applied to this Japanese gun. I shoot it a lot and I really enjoy it. What's not to like?

I had to put a dog down last night. Long time pet to my wife who had the little critter for 17 years. I've done this before, and I will likely do it again, but it was harder this time. The Marlin 94 can be modified to feed longer rounds. Mic did one for me years ago that we set up specifically to handle a 180 gr XTP seated to the lower cannelure in .357 cases. That was one sweet rifle and if I ever catch the guy who stole it, it won't be pretty.

I'm using a 270 SAA bullet in my Rossi 92. No modifications and it feeds fine. Fortunately these are too long to feed through my 66 Yellowboy so I can load them up a bit stouter. However, I had leading problems until I went to a .454 diameter bullet.

I do cast, but I haven't gotten the equipment out in several years. My time became too valuable at work and it is far cheaper to get MBW to do my casting for me.

Normally, I run 158 gr bullets through the levergun. But I have used 180 gr XTP and 180 gr WFN bullets that fed just fine. Smelled like old motor oil when you shot it though.
