Re: Duplicating Buffalo Bore loads

I wonder if a man might be better off with that 180 bullet at around 1100 FPS out of a handgun and about 1400 in a levergun? You can do that with about 12 gr of 2400 and not bend anything.

Re: Checking How the Barrel and Cylinder Line Up

My .357 flattop has no real forcing cone. But it must be lined up right because it really shoots. Not all revolvers are set up this way.

Re: Perspective, History, Politics, and your AGE...

A lot of younger people (by no means all of them) lack perspective. This is why you see so many teen suicides. They do not realize that things get better and worse as time goes on. I think that people without some life experience tend to be easier to manipulate. Right now we have a lot of people who...

I almost think that the increase in the volume of calls I am getting might be related to a political contribution I made to the Trump campaign. Why not just put plug screws in those hole? Unless ya go all the way to weld em up and blue ( ruining its orignal condition) atleast the holes will be filled preventing dirt, snow from entering the receiver. I'd have to figure out what size the holes are. All of the plug screws in my parts box are ...

I still have Kate. I just don’t take her out a lot these days. I actually haven’t shot a lot in the past few years and I’m revisiting this now.

Just FYI the front sight on this sixgun used to be very difficult for me to see as it wore pretty smooth over the years. I can see it now.

Re: Winchester 1892 Trapper Takedown question

If you take care of it, you won't have any problem. I think people worry too much about excess wear on the takedown parts. But I see a lot of old take down guns that shoot just fine. Keep it properly lubricated and you won't have any trouble.

Jim,

You remember what a beat up old gun this was! I don't know how they cleaned up the cylinder as it had teeth marks in it.

And I still have the original grip frame and stocks. I'll save them for another project.

Personally, I don't put a lot of faith in jello shooting. I know that a lot of people do. I still carry the same .45 ACP load I carried as a police officer in the 1980s. 230 grain Federal Hydra-shok. In my .357s I still carry the old Remington 125 grain magnum load with the scalloped jacketed bullet...

I'd start at 6 gr of Unique and work up from there. I imagine you will end up at 6.5-7 gr. But I would not use these in a Charter Arms Bulldog. http://www.goodrichfamilyassoc.org/44_Special_Articles/Brian%20Pearce%20on%20the%2044%20Special.pdf Here is some data from Brian Pearce that may be helpful.

Re: accuracy difference between calibres?

I find that my .38/.357 leverguns will generally shoot better than my .44 and .45 Colt guns.

However, that is not necessarily true with handguns in the same calibers. I think that some .44 and .45 guns have oversized bores, and they shoot better with oversized cast bullets.

Such a useful gun. From light .44 Specials to stout 300 gr .44 Mag you can use it on anything.

Most of them are good to go out of the box these days, but if they aren't a little tweaking is all that is needed.
