Re: What’s under your bed?

Only have two guns that sleep outside of my safes. I won this Mossberg years ago at a Wild Turkey Federation Dinner. Keep if filled with 00 buck. I also keep a 9mm upstairs too but with how I am with pistols it would not be my first choice .

Re: browning miroku 1886 mainspring

Joeng, A fellow Browning-Miroku 1886 owner here--these are beautiful rifles. If you are still around, I wanted to ask how your jig has held up over time, and if you are still doing it that way. I have the exact same model, with no place for a pin to capture the main spring. I had much the same expe...

Re: Taking a break from the EBRs at the range. '95 SRC

Love that 95. I have one just like it but I am missing the handguard. Found a reproduction for it but not sure how easy it will be to match it up. I did have mine out the other day. I was shooting 165 gr deer loads out of it. All I have to say is if I am going to shoot it much at the range then I ne...

Re: My love of Marlin Cowboy model lever guns

I recently was in charge of dividing up my uncles estate. He was far from rich but had nice little collection of mostly older guns. He had two 1894's One was a Cowboy in 45 Colt. I really wanted that gun but figured I had better get some of the older guns I probably would never get a chance to buy a...

Re: My Favorite Levergun Cartridge

I was thinking the same thing about the 35. I took half a dozen lever guns out to the range yesterday and the 35 Rem seemed like it would make a perfect "brush gun". Really pleasant to shoot and surprisingly accurate. Intended to take my old 30-30 out too but could not find the box I had the ammo in...

Re: Anyone have experience with the 6.5-06?

Never seen one but I am guessing that all things being set up correctly it would be a great round. Pretty much sits right between the 270 and the 25-06. The 25-06 is my favorite deer rifle. I have two of them now. I also used to shoot a 270 and it was a fantastic rifle also. My guess as to why it ne...

Nothing wrong at all with a #200 bear. I have not had a bear roast for years but remember it being really good. Bears are kind of like pigs. They are a pain to drag, especially if the ground is not level.

My favorite has got to be my Browning BLR in .308 win for actual hunting. But another favorite is one of my Model 94's, pre-64 30/30, because it's so handy to always have with me. It's permanent home is in a saddle scabbard lashed to my side by side. Mostly, it's my Armadillo and coyote gun, and th...

This would have to be my favorite now. It is a Browning 1886 45-70 made in 1986. I really would love to get an original but for now this one is fun to shoot. Next two guns I want to get are the Uberti 73 in 44-40 and the 76 in 45-75. Would love to have an original in either of those but that may hav...

Well I did finally get out and shoot the Stevens. It was very pleasant to shoot. Only ran about 10 rounds through it. Recoil was there but not bad at all. I was shooting off hand so I have no idea how accurate it really is. It is a very smooth rifle. Only thing that bothered me was some of the brass...

I live here and can't keep up with the laws. Not sure about the first shotgun but the last two should be fine. To be safe the guns should be in a case but at the very least the guns and ammo should be stored separately. Sorry but probably not legal to keep your shotgun loaded while in a vehicle.

I use the Blink system . I like it pretty well. You have to remember to turn it on and off. You will eat up a lot of batteries if you are out working in the yard and leave it on. Sometimes high winds or for me bees set it off a lot. I thought the free storage they give you would not be enough but I ...

Well going through some of my uncle's things I found this pound of powder. What struck me as strange was the price. $2.50 I started reloading about 35 years ago and have never seen anything close to that. I am guessing it may be some of my Uncle's and Dad's powder from the sixties.

In just a survival type situation I would rather have a shotgun than just about anything else. Buckshot for deer or two legged critters and bird shot to eat. I agree that an AR would probably be better than a Garand in your situation but I would trade my AR for a nice Garand given the chance.
